Chickens can 100% get depressed! I had a first time mama lose her chick cuz another hen gave it a peck. Her behavior totally changed, she was quiet and sad and wouldnt eat. We got her some foster chicks as a last resort and the second she saw them under her she was so happy! She was making curious noises and tucking them under her. After she lost her first chick she turned into a total helicopter mom with her fosters as well.

I too was disappointed at the lack of audio examples, However based on how you describe them alone I heard the noises playing in my head and recognised what you were describing in each example right away. It really is about spending time with them, spend enough time with them and youll learn it all almost instinctively. I supposes your video is more describing main types of noises that they make. Id love something more in depth when it comes to examples of them combining noises

I was going to include this video with our hatching program for schools because it really looked promissing...until I realized there weren't going to be any sounds. Mine just died. It was her very first eggs when some evil man robbe her nest clean. I didn't notice at first because she still goes out and eat even after the fact the I just saw her one morning, in her broody groovy box, not moving at all! It's sa because she's a pet. I got 7 of them all pets and not for consumption. I give them out as gifts.
