Looks like a simple recipe to start in the crock pot as you walk out the door in the morning. Dinner will be ready when you get home from work.

I can just about smell how good it is from here in Vegas! Delicious! My brother and I use to live on garbanzo beans in brown rice with sesame oil and either garam masala or chana masala when we were in our brown rice macrobiotic days! I wish we had this to!

Mita M.. to your ques..you can decrease the amount of water to 6-7 cups..you can also dissolve a tbsp of chickpea flour (besan) or all purpose flour (Maida) in the curry to make it thicker. when you are dissolving it, make sure no lumps are formed..

I have noticed that when I make something in a slow cooker, the fluid content doubles up. What should be the ratio of water to chickpeas if I want a thicker gravy? In the video, it looks quite runny, but I prefer a thicker gravy.

Hello & thank you for this video. Could I put everything in the crockpot at once and cook on low all day or would that be too long for veggies? I like the idea you mentioned below adding chickpea flour to thicken : )

Why make such a fuss about the salt .. if it's too much for you then just decrease the amount and adjust to your taste .... SIMPLE !

If you cook this overnight do the chickpeas get too soft? I've overcooked them on the stove before and they didn't come out very good.

I would lovvveee to try this. But my local supermarket doesn't sell many of those spices. Are there any substitutes that can be used?

Mrs_Abreu Where are you living? (vaguely, like, which country or region). Many groceries have an ''International'' aisle where you can find really nicely priced, bulk spices. Avoid those little plastic jars of 45g /1/8 cup / 1 1/2 oz of spices by a brand name that are always over priced. If you have the opportunity to, google for your location ''Indian or Hispanic or Arab or Chinese or International grocery''. I know that seems like a lot of things to investigate, but, it depends on the demographics of where you are from. You might also want to check wikipedia for the variations of names given for specific spices, as well as be familiar of which spices should be fresh and which can be dry, (or, toasted whole seeds that are then grinned, but, that's a step that's going to need a grinder...or arm strength/patience and a grinder, lol). If you've not ventured into the world of curry before, you can even just go for a premixed ''mild curry powder'' and then incorporate fresh garlic, onions, peppers, and ginger.

I followed your recipe and way too much salt and too much water. It was more like a soup than a curry. I'm going to add coconut milk tomorrow and see how that shit goes
