I don’t…understand…why she hasn’t gotten the RA involved lol. Like, being 18 is hard and based on the timeline this girl did covid high school but it’s WILD to me that this girl thinks sleeping in her car is acceptable. After resolving the roommate it’s therapy time. Woof.

Tbf we have no clue what the RA rapport is socially at her school. I loved being an RA in my college bc one of our cardinal principles was we were kids mentoring other kids. Things like finding weed or “contraband” in residents’ rooms wasn’t even discussed why the fuck would students police other students. With that in mind, I wonder if the bf being there at all is technically not allowed at her school and could prevent the caller from asking for help. It’s possible her RA is of the law enforcement persuasion or they don’t have a personal connection with them (remember being 18 when dying in your car was easier than talking to a stranger?), or the RA/housing services have way too many residents per RA. RAs at my college were not weird hall monitor level people they were just like making snacks and picking you up from a frat party that went wrong. So RA-aged me would have had your perspective but a decade later having spoken to other people about their residential housing experiences, I realize RAs/housing structures and dynamics vary so much
@megan-wl1ym
@megan-wl1ym 11 ай бұрын
i'm not gonna lie nearly all of my friends had some level of a similar issue w their roommates and none of their RAs did anything past speaking to the roommate and politely asking and they just went the whole year avoiding the room somehow for the entirety of the year and essentially not even living there. RAs can only do so much when the roommate is just not compatible or a considerate person
@um2913

if the parents of the caller with the nightmare roommate find out about the fact that their daughter is being made to live with 2 people instead of 1 and is being taken advantage of, they're probably going to be pissed especially if it's their money going to her room and board. I am not a parent but if I were her parent and found out about this, everyone in an authority position at that school would hear about it. I'd go full Beverly Goldberg.

Can you imagine American tuition costs and your child is in freezing cold sleeping in her car. No front desk, no keys, your child exposed to anybody and any element? Yea I’d torch a tree on the quad at least. AT LEAST 🤬

Pretty sure almost all of the things the roommate and her boyfriend have done are in clear violation of her residence agreement and are therefore grounds for getting kicked out. Hopefully the caller brings this up to her RA and they get the school's residence services involved.

Regarding the bully -- you could behave as if you don't know them. Drive them crazy, absolve yourself of guilt, avoid confrontation. In all seriousness, I'm a huge proponent of not interacting with people simply because you're in close proximity to them. You're not obligated to give anyone your time. You're in grad school for YOU. If they want to reach out to make themselves feel better, even if they're different and feel bad/apologetic, you're in NO WAY obligated to forgive them or interact with them. You do you booboo ❤

Remember being 18 and having someone being mad at you felt like a valid reason to wanna die? I agree with you 100% but getting that done would require the caller to be okay with being a nemesis in that lunatics mind forever (potentially) and that blows ass
@emmyemu33
@emmyemu33 Жыл бұрын
@@zerocraic3966 true. My comment was judgemental. I think I just got really worried for her that the longer things went on, the harder it would be to prove the other girl is a bad roommate. Also that the college RA hasn't done room check and found the bf squatting. At my college they did random checks a few times a semester.
@loveandhate52
@loveandhate52 Жыл бұрын
@@emmyemu33 At the very least the RA and other ppl living on their floor should have noticed that the boyfriend was hanging around a lot more frequently than is normal for someone's visiting SO - especially while using the communal bathroom. Also agree on the fact that letting this drag on probably won't help the caller. My vague memory of living on campus as an undergraduate was that when stuff like this happens, there was a strike system in place (obviously with the more severe housing violations being judged accordingly) so having a long term record of issues would help her case better than going to the RA and housing services with a list of bat shit stuff that's been going on for more than half a school year without saying anything. At this point she's complicit in the bf's squatting by not saying anything as soon as that happened.

Dang I needed this like 6 months ago! The girl that made my life hell in high school just came crawling back into my Instagram DMs and we even met up, I was expecting an apology, but she just wanted to tell me how shitty her life was and make excuses for herself? Never said the words “I’m sorry”. We haven’t spoken since and we’re still mutuals I wish I had the backbone I needed to stand up to her and say what I was feeling. I have people I dont know and never knew (but she does) are still to this day 6 years post grad are calling me and messaging me to this day calling me a whore lmao
@Jupiter-james

You can use this as the motivation to break the mutual!! You do not need this person to exist anywhere in your life, even in the online sphere. No one is entitled to have access to you if you don’t want them to! I hope you can feel empowered enough to break free from this person, she sounds horrible.

For the first caller, honestly I would just go to your class, do your program and just ignore her. Make it clear to her that you don't trust her because of how she used to treat you and you will not forget that she did and you don't want to deal with her. Don't encourage her to treat the other person like garbage because she could end up getting in trouble and she needs this program.

A partner moving into your dorm is really really against the renters' agreement. People can feel unsafe. She can get kicked out for that. It is also super easy to get proof of this.
