I am 3 years sober and talking about AA and hearing someone as young as I am talking about being sober was SUPER cool to me! You shouldn't share private information that pertains to someone else without their consent, no matter what website you're on. Dangerous people exist everywhere; Facebook, KZbin, Wikipedia, you name it. Anyone deserves the right to choose what information about them is shared on any website.

I worked in state campaigns and my job was to coordinate w volunteers (aka 70 year olds ) and you have to give them some small satisfaction and make them feel like they have some sort of control or importance basically stroke their ego and humor them and they’ll leave you alone. Laughing about kinky dad but find it relatable. I got contacted by someone on one of the DNA sites that is an unknown cousin. My late uncle had a second family and this person was reaching out to me wanting me to introduce her to her half siblings. As far as I know, my cousins have no idea about her. I told her that I wanted to talk to my sisters first to see how to approach this. I don't even want to tell my dad about his brother's second family.

1:03:20 becoming a parent is what encouraged me to be chosen sober. It is something I saw from a friend’s dad when we met in my 20s for dinner and a pint to 1st time I think. His dad just spoke so fondly of my friends childhood. He mentioned he actually didn’t drink while his children were living at home in case they needed him and picked it up once they were 19/20 when he saw they were ready to trust themselves first and see him as backup to their own ability to take care of themselves. Now they’re both successful independent happy men who had a childhood of emotional safety where someone was already ready for them. without that crutch their dad was able to make so many wacky and fun memories with his kids. And like going to the zoo and the beach and shit is so fucking rad I thought I’d be like my friends dad and kind of resume when my child got older but the longer I get into it the more I enjoy life how I’m experiencing it now. I really think any person could benefit from breaks from bad vices even if it’s like an annual cleanse/sober October type thing to give yourself sincere moment to raw dog everything life is going to show you. make sure you’re still fulfilled and experience life when it’s just you and yourself. Sarah is also so wonderful. I’m not on TikTok so I didn’t know her before this episode, and I wish I could join her at gay LA AA I’m only a couple hours away

Can I just say, I’ve watched quite a few videos/podcasts that Sarah has been on in the last few years, and 99% of them have defaulted to she/her pronouns and Miles is the first one I’ve seen who actually used they/them right off the bat. Which is kinda wild since he’s a straight white man and the other podcasts I’ve seen use she/her have been a variety of queer people.

C. 🏳️‍🌈 In the rare fact that the last little baby gay off to college reads this - don’t live with her. *Truuuuust me.* Plus that time at each other’s places (should y’all date) is so fun! You also have to take into account how things would be if y’all didn’t work out: what if they had other people over? Or vice versa? You also don’t know their habits yet, and living with a random roommate is honestly a great place to grow as an adult, especially in communication skills, and you miiiight honestly get the ick by her living habits regardless how perfect everything else might be. 🤙🏽
