His assessment of the Viper just seems off to me. Owned one for 4+ years and know a fair bit about them. They are pretty bullet proof and not known for being problematic mechanically. The dashboards on early ones are terribly cheap, but the seats are fantastic. The rest of the interior is almost acceptable given the time era. As for the offset pedals, if you own one you don't even notice it (Cobras are just the same). First few weeks I owned it I thought I had made a mistake, but once I learned the car, I realized how good it really is. Absolute blast to drive. I think you have to own some cars to fully enjoy them.

The bug bit me when I was 9. My uncle Tony was one of the drive train engineers for the Viper. A year before the 1st Viper, my uncle showed up unannounced after work one day in a Viper prototype. It was unlike anything I had ever seen and have been obsessed since. He took me for a 10 minute ride and I was absolutely blown away. Remember it like it was yesterday. This was before they hid body panels with camouflage so you can only imagine the looks we got while riding around Troy, Michigan.

I don't have enough experience but when I would move a 2006 Viper for dealership I worked for, it was heaven. I have short legs for 5"11. and I remember the clutch was fine and had adjustment too. I heard they are reliable as shit, issues he described are probably from prolong sitting and not moving at least a few times a year... Dodge dealership would joke about the reliability and say, change old hoses, change oil, watch your temps and it's cheaper than a corvette in maintenance. (some of the reliability comes from not driving it enough too, but we heard of vipers with over 60k on them before) Lastly the advice was given that vipers before 2002 were not nice to live with, okish if you had garage but overall just a pain.

As a youngster I, was heavily influenced by my older brother who was a car guy. He and I swapped engines between two 62 Chevies in the back yard using an apple tree as our chain hoist support. I was 13. Well, we lived in a tiny poor rural town in PA and there were no exotic cars within three counties of us. But he talked about Ferrari’s. Fast forward 40 years and I bought my first Ferrari with full support and encouragement of my wife who knew it was my dream car. It was a 360 Spider and it did not disappoint. I actually sold that one because of multiple years working overseas. Now that I’m back to stay, I bought another 360 Spider (this one with manual transmission) and I plan to keep it until I cannot drive anymore. My hero turned out to be worthy.

Great vid! My "dream car" was (and still is) the Green Hornet's "Black Beauty" 4-door sedan. Yeah, I liked Batman's Batmobile, but when "The Green Hornet" debuted later that year (1966), that was the car I preferred. For some reason, I tend to like "gangster-like sedans", and the Black Beauty very much looked "gangster-like". I did buy a 1966 Imperial Crown 4-door (which the black Beauty was based from), with the intention of modifying it to the Hornet's "rolling arsenal". Didn't happen. But, it was the "limo" at my wedding. I went on a lot of cruise nights and car shows with it. Not many of these are still on the road. Modifying it as the Black Beauty is still optional. I do not have regrets owning my "dream car".

Great stories. He talks about the "Viper" as if it was one car, constant through time and age. It has a 25 year history. He is referring to the Gen1 and Gen2 Vipers. They don't all have these same issues. Vipers are rock solid. Gen1/2 are 10+ years older than the others, so there's the age thing to consider. (Disclaimer: I have a Gen4. Gen2 RT/10 remains my dream car, but most are in terrible shape. Still want one.)

My brother had a Viper for almost 3 years, it was 1995 model, I owned one for almost 2 years, 1993 in classic blue white. Owning these cars obviously made us members of a Viper comunity, I really don't understand the issues he pointed out, except the smell. These things are as reliable as it gets, the pedal issues are fixed super easy. Who the fuck uses air con in a Viper? Open your damn windows to hear that sound. The plastics rattel? Well, that isn't really anything to outrageous considering it's an american car from the 90s. And door panels that fall off? I don't want to know in what rocked down examples he was sitting...

Even though I've never liked their sound and they aren't fast compared to cars now. Just the look was perfect. And being so raw, no traction control, no abs, none of that. I still have never been lucky enough to be in 1. But it's like a Countach to me. That was my wall poster before the Viper.

Great story's. My first time in a sports car was early 80s my dad bought a red ferrari used...it looked good but POS. Then he bought an '88 Lincoln LSC "Midnight Mark" which was awesome. My first trip over 100mph was in his '93 TA which was a great straight line V8 for the early 90s. Then he bought a '94 RT/10 Black on tan. It looked so good and was the baddest ass car on the road until the late 90s. My first super car drive was in the RT/10 @ 15 years old in Atlanta...we snuck it out and survived. Same with a '97 S600 but thats another story. I had many drives in the RT/10 at a young age. Its very raw, not practical, very fast, a beast to drive and Id do anything to hear that V10 spit wind fire out of the side exhaust followed by high temp engine if idle too long reminding you to "GO!" and the smell of the flesh on the back of my leg burning upon exit. So many cars before and after. I now own its nemesis...the 96 dodge stealth rt tt. What I thought was funny is how my brother said driving my Stealth, slightly upgraded, reminded him of the viper. Regardless, if you can get a good gen 1 RT/10 buy it!!

Maybe there was a worse one put into Cadillac that I'm not aware of. Cadillac should just be renamed GM experimental BS though. GM always does stupid stuff with them.

And I've got an 88 S4 black of course... I’ve always been around cars. My first dream car was my grandfather’s 1989 Dodge W250 that I rode around in as a kid. That became my first car. Then there’s a 1970 Dodge Challenger in Plum Crazy that I had as a Hot Wheels. That’s a dream car I will own soon. There are many more. One dream car I won’t own is my cousin’s 66 C10 that I first went 100 mph in. My uncle is selling it and as a poor college kid is out of reach. I still have many others I want to own

I’ve always been a car guy. I saw the movie Vanishing Point when I was 11, and from that point I wanted a Dodge Challenger. When I was a senior In high school in 2015 my mother bought a new challenger SRT 392. First time I drove the car it had only 500 miles on it, I was shaking with excitement. Then I turned off traction control and laid a patch of rubber 50 feet long.
