I assume you meant in "writing" not "wiring" but yeah, probably why he was so apologetic, because he realized the company could be on the hook for a lot of money if he took them to court. I guarantee you it WAS in writing as you sign a contract with the carrier for the delivery. He could have legitimately sued them for breach of contract(this would be so obvious he would probably get a summary judgment), loss of business, and damage to his reputation, just for starters. (The fact that the collection agent was harassing people that had no legal obligation to pay the company anything probably would have got them in trouble too, if he bothered to report it.) Merely losing the $1500 for the delivery fee was letting them off the hook VERY easily.

I am in the trucking industry. So I will pass on some free advice. All of you watching this.... Deal with one man or 2 man shows when shipping something this spendy and in a time crunch. The bigger the company the more people can f up your shipment. Check the " Motor Carrier # " FMCSA Snap shot record (google it). You want to hire a guy with a lot of inspections and very low violations. You can see all their tickets they have had for the last 2 years. Hire a guy with a nice truck. Doesn't have to be new but it should be clean and well kept. If he opens the doors and shit falls out, its your fault for what you get. Ask for referrals and verify the referrals. And always remember that you get what you pay for. Also put a clause in the "rate conformation that stipulates a charge back if they are late. IE they say Monday and get there Tuesday then they owe you 500$ each day. Good Luck!
@lolman777 жыл бұрын
Had my very bad experience too... I was leaving Germany for another country, for work, and wanted my motorcycle to follow me. I needed a truck to come before I move out, and arrive after I move in, so I can take the delivery. Which was kinda tricky to find (specific place, specific timing...), especially when you're not a professional or used to the process of finding a moving company. Found one, who was already going there anyway on those dates, and seemed really ok with the timing and everything. They were cheap, but not THAT cheap so I would be skeptical. They had insurance, they spoke my language. Seemed fine! The truck arrives. First surprise, it's a truck for CARS, not motorcycles. But the guy says "no worries, I'll unload that car here now, and I have straps." He seemed to know what he was doing, and I had to leave right away, so I left and was like "well, he's a professional. He'll figure.". Wrong. D-Day, delivery time: bent handle bar, left and right fairings highly scratched, huge dent on the gas tank and the custom exhaust. You know how he actually loaded the bike? AGAINST THE SIDE OF A CAR, HANGING ABOVE THE ROAD!!! He never unloaded a car to give space to my bike! It's been bouncing around the whole trip, for a few days!!! They forced me to pay the delivery, pretending it was the only way to get the damages covered by their insurance. Guess what? They never have been covered for motorcycles transportation, only cars! They faked the documents! Name of the company: Deko Group UAB, based in Vilnius, Lithuania. That last precision should have told me there was something wrong...

I worked as a dispatcher for a trucking company and let me tell you, It is a really "LIE ALL THE TIME" job. You constantly have to cover for incompetent drivers that don't feel like they are obligated to call in and answer the phone to their dispatcher, broker, customer. It is a nightmare of a job. Truck constantly "break down" because a better paying job has been found, or because the driver does not pick up the damn phone or because they took a detour they were not supposed to take, they run into "car accidents" or "construction work on the road" all the time, brokers lie about when the cargo has to be at the delivery site, they lie about pick up times. It is a crappy job. Glad I don't work that job anymore.
@gullepomp7 жыл бұрын

Needed to ship quite valuable box of goods to a customer in 2 days, the shipping company didnt answer my calls when it was day late for delivery so I used the tracking number to see where it is and just walked in to some distribution warehouse, picked up the packet from a shelf (I knew exactly what the box looked like) and drove to my customer to deliver it. Most funny part was that the shipping company called me and paid some ridiculously shitty amount of euros as a "compensation" for the package that they thought they had lost.

Well yes and no. Transport companies are a real pain in the ass and always try to lie their way through a conversation, I witnessed a logistics manager try to twist someones words but shut up real quick when we offered the solution of never contracting his company again. But in Rob's case he doesn't understand that no one runs a car transport route from New York to California. Financially, it wouldn't make sense. The broker had to stretch it out over various carriers. He's a smart guy, just not in the transportation world, I mean have you seen the flatbed that he built? Simply a money wasting idea.

I agree about the trucking companies. I tried getting my BRZ shipped from Pennsylvania to Colorado and after waiting weeks for them to pick it up despite saying they will pick it up in less than 3 days, I told them to pound sand and had my friend drive the car out. Before that I tried another trucking company and they told me their trucker won't go south of Denver. Denver is 250 miles away from me. They couldn't even deliver to my address as they advertised because their trucker was a lazy diva. I can't wait for autonomous trucks to put these idiots with no work ethic out of business for good.

as a truck driver myself. i would like to appologize on behalf of those shit drivers you have had to deal with. most of us drivers hold ourselves to a high standard but sadly sometimes a few drivers squeeze into the industry or companies into the industry who just dont give a shit. if i might make a recommendation for future deliveries? always check with whom the carrier is. find a good carrier and build a rep with them. then always use this carrier for your shipping needs! you will get better service if you can form a regular shipping/recieving venture with this company and then when you need them they will go the extra mile for you. just make sure you pay well for services given and also keep in touch with the carrier owner on a first name basis. enjoy no more shit fuckery from bad drivers!

I'm a retired gearhead with my own collection (C avatar)...maybe I should get a specialized enclosed trailer to help these guys out....and get out of my wife's hair....(hmmmmm)

SuperSpeedersRob finally gave up and bought his own ramp truck. But even at that, if you're shipping multiple cars to different places at different times, it would be cost prohibitive to operate an entire fleet.

Some of the best deals are the sketchiest ones. I can see the issue with the box truck, but at least he actually made it compared to the actual haulers..
