You're a great show host, you mix comedy and intelligent art analysis exceptionally well, you try to understand people before you prejudge them, plus you lighten up people's moods with your comedy. Those are not easy feats to accomplish all at once, but you do it well. Donald Glover is not better than you, he just has different gifts that's all. God created us all with unique gifts.

Everyone should look into the director of this video, Hiro Murai. He's collaborated with Gambino before on several videos as well as with other artists - some of my favorites being the videos for "Never Catch Me" by Flying Lotus & Kendrick Lamar, "Cheerleader" by St. Vincent, "Gold" by Chet Faker, "Grief", "Hive" and "Chum" by Earl Sweatshirt, and "Dis Generation" by A Tribe Called Quest. Even though he's only done music videos (and some episodes of Atlanta) he already seems to have a very unique and distinct voice. Long takes, fluid camerawork, surreal imagery and perfectly executed concepts. A lot of great film directors like David Fincher, Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry and Paul Thomas Anderson got their start in music videos, and I feel like Hiro Murai could follow that path. Keep an eye on him. Edit: "some episodes" was an understatement, he's direcred most of the episodes.

Now that I think about it, I might of use the wrong choice of words. A few years ago in one of his comedy shows he said: "Why can't I be Spiderman". That caught a lot of attention in social media, which led to Marvel making Miles Morales the New Spiderman from the Ultimate Universe.

I Control My Fate pretty much. Bendis who created Miles mentioned how that discussion influenced them making that character. Also part of comics is that new characters rarely shine, unless they are picking up the mantle like x23, and Miles Morales. So it was a big decision for them to show what makes spiderman who he is, is that he's an everyman so it doesn't matter what race they are. Side note, i think it was great outcome that he got a part as Aaron Davis, in homecoming last year, as that character goes on to be one of Miles Morales' most important villains and supporting characters.

loved it! He's acting as the instrument of both the persecutor and the prosecuted. The song is essentially an encompassing look into the blank, repetitive nature of black music, how black people are seen through the eyes of other races and how it does not matter what we do vs what is actually happening. Gambino basically did a Christopher Nolan Inception type video where it sparks conversation but to those who live it the message is clear.

Not in the sense that I like or agree with what he’s said recently, but in the sense of human change and growth.
