CHILE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD (Albuquerque and Santa Fe during COVID)

The New Mexican cities were ones we've always dreamed of visiting, and despite COVID making the cities seem more like ghost towns, we had a blast. New Mexico is certainly the chile capital of the world, and between the streets adorned with hanging ristras and the multiple orders of "Christmas on the side," I think we got a good fill of chiles for a little while.

Have you heard of an iron fish? They are little fish made out of iron that you cook with, and by doing so, more iron gets into your meals. Apparently it’s tasteless, and it helps boost energy! We learned about it in my anatomy class one year. I looked online and they were priced - $35-$45

Congratulations on your 3,000 subscribers! I agree that New Mexico has so so much to see. Next time around, I would recommend Kasha-Katawe national monument (slot canyon and tent rocks), bandelier national monument, chimayo, Gila cliff dwellings, Mogollon old mining town, camping at the designated dark sky Cosmic Campground (free), and Catwalk recreation area (gorgeous canyon), and Chaco canyon. And there's still many more! And of course Carlsbad caverns which I suspect are closed now. But when you're there, you won't want to miss the bat flight amphitheater program in the evening. It's when the bats come out of the cave and having them fly over me was a magical spiritual experience. Happy travels!

Yep-- all wonderful suggestions. I'd add staying at the campground at Ghost Ranch (it's a bit more expensive, but you can go and hike on some trails, see the museums, even do a horseback tour), there's also the town of Abiquiu and the lake. To the Carlsbad tour, I'd suggest going into the King's palace---this is a ranger guided trip and a few extra dollars but totally worth it. Yes, all this is closed right now.

I've never heard that. It's always Breaking Bad. It's funny how I was in the hospital and my room was right across Central from the motel that was always in the show, so I took a picture to send to all my friends who love the show but don't live here.

When you guys go again you should go on the Sandia Cave Trail, it’s short but it leads you to a cave and an amazing view. Also the Sandia tramway if you guys have some money on the budget you get to go to the top of the mountain and see a great portion of the city. That made my trip so great!
