An honest person would acknowledge the crappy corn maze. A negative person would think the entire day was ruined because of it. A positive person would have a great time anyway

There’s a fine line between being negative and realistic for me. I’ve found that for every “negative“ thought I have I follow it with a BUT. “The corn maze was shit, but what a beautiful day it was just to be outdoors enjoying time spent with my boyfriend.” I’ve trained myself to always counter the “negative” thoughts with more positive ones. It took practice, but now it’s just comes naturally. Always enjoy it when you post a new video. Keep taking care of you!

Something I picked up a few years ago was replacing "but" with "and". Kinda blew my mind. Bang on with this stuff taking practice- I feel like many of us forget to emphasize all the work that goes into practicing.

HELLO I AM A DOCS FIEND LET ME HELP YOU- while breaking in, wear thick socks and or thick leggings and lace them up all the way, comfortably tight, to help them not rub against the backs of your legs. for the shoe itself, the leather needs to be broken in and, while wearing them WILL soften the leather over time, it will take a LONG time if that's all you're doing (esp if your'e avoiding wearing them because well.. they hurt..) doc's sells a leather conditioner and polish called wonder balm and it is not just an 'upsell' it's so important. i recommend polishing your docs once or twice a week for about two months, as the leather conditioner will soak into the leather making it softer and so much easier to break in! i hope you see this and i hope it helps! Docs are amazing once broken in but its definitely a task getting them there :')

I think positive people don’t necessarily “lie” (to themselves or others) about negative experiences, they just focus on the positive things about it. Like instead of focusing on how the pumpkin patch was shitty, you could focus on how you found a pumpkin you really like or you enjoyed spending time with Steven, or they had really good coffee there, or whatever! It’s like focusing on all the good stuff instead of the bad stuff. I try to practice doing that, it can be hard especially when you’re used to focusing on bad stuff but it’ll make you happier in the long run.

You don't break in dr martens. They break in you. You have to wear them till you get blisters. Then take em off till the blisters are healed. After that your feet are toughened up and you're good to go! (Also tie the laces, leaving them loose causes extra friction.)

A girl at my school (donkey’s years ago) had a sideline in breaking in DMs. One of her tricks was to wear a couple of pairs of socks, smear them with Vaseline and run the hair dryer over them every day. It took a week, I believe. Not me, though, I broke mine in with blood and tears. As is only right and proper! 😌💪🏻🥾

My husband is great and positivity and I struggle with it. He told me don't try to change my negative feeling about something, instead find something I do feel positively about and spend more time thinking and talking about that. Even if there is 9 negatives, there is probably one positive and I am happier when I focus on the positives! I used to just try to gaslight myself into liking thing that I didn't actually like 😂

This sounds super weird, but for crocheting I use a nursing pillow if i know I’ll be there for hours. It helps supports your elbows and since you strap it around your torso, it helps me sit up straight. Now that that’s out of the way, you’re doing great Bea, injuries happen, and the mental strain that comes with it is definitely hard. But one step time at a time girl, you got this!

I do not think you are negative about things. You are just very observant and analytical. I am like that too!!! You are not negative. You are just honest! We love you! Generally when I'm really depressed I would not even go to a pumpkin patch or do art projects so you are definitely still doing self-care by getting out and doing things rather than just staying home and being sad. And it's okay to just be with the sadness sometimes also. I admire your persistence and I would say you are an honest person with moments of joy here and there which I wish for everyone! I think there is a big correlation between having ADHD and being negative, especially being diagnosed later in life. We have so many vectors of information coming into our brain, and we are great at pattern recognition. Adhders also have typically more negative reinforcements as kids. So, I think we've been wired to look for the negative and wait for the "shoe to drop" and need to relearn how to disengage from that thought process.

Hi Bea, a tip for breaking in boots: Mink Oil! You literally slather the outsides and put them in front of a heater to soak in the oil. There's a youtube tutorial featuring this. I also put sports tape on my heels to prevent blisters, because there will be blisters until the boots are worn in. You can do it, I believe in you!

About a year ago, I found myself complaining a lot and being overly negative, which was not my usual character. I decided to change it and just stop. I was going to therapy and I was reading a lot of stuff too, so it wasn’t like I just cold turkey stopped without knowing how to. Really, being positive is not being delusional or dishonest. I’ve always been a very positive person, but I also suffer from depression at times. Being a positive person more than anything is a practice of gratitude. So I don’t think it’s about being positive or negative. It’s about being grateful for what is. I love how self-aware you are, and how much you work on fixing things that you think may need fixing. Keep up the great work! 🥰

Girl you put WAY too much pressure and expectation on yourself! When you lend voice to thought, there's nothing wrong with that. But you could try to find something positive to say before you point out the obvious downside, if you want to try out a new perspective. You might be surprised that you're better able to find the upside with some practice. I don't see the negative in you that you see, but you're the one that has to exist within your thoughts. I see how lovely your sense of humor is, and how far you have come! Good luck Bea! 🌹

3 positives: the way you filmed how you cooked your green chicken chili dish(oh my god! Soooo good!); your artistic talent, painting pumpkins and recipe cards; the cleaning up procrastination is just a way of looking after and feeling about your environment; having a sunny day out at your first date café and hunting for respectable pumpkins. Bea, I highly recommend putting massage/bodywork into your self care rotation. It's amazing for stress/anxiety and mobility/muscle function and positive body image. I'm an LMT and I see a lot of people for various reasons but massage is SO great for the nervous system. I know you've been on the up and up taking care of yourself and I think this would be a great addition. As you said about a mental health therapist - try try and try again until you find someone who clicks with you.

Excellent idea. I started doing this to help with sore muscles, but now maintain a monthly treatment just because. The lady who does my therapy understand about sensory processing issues, and has worked out a signal with me if the area is too difficult or I need a break. Because of this, over the course of about 14 treatments, I very rarely have to use the signal. I would recommend this for self care, and also for retraining the body when every touch feels like ‘poking’, if that makes sense. ❤️❤️❤️

If your boots are the real leather ones, here is my method. I’ve never done Docs but I’ve broken in dozens of cowboy boots this way: Slather your boots in leather conditioner or mink oil. Put them on with thick socks. Fill a container with hot hot water. Put your boot-clad foot in a gallon or 2 gallon Ziploc bag and then insert the whole caboodle into the hot water. Leave for a few minutes and then wiggle your foot around, bend back and forth, do a squat, etc. Softens them up instantly!

I just much more enjoy being positive, feeling good, being in a happy headspace. As someone with anxiety and possibly depression, it feels better to find a way to enjoy an experience rather than being negative. Acknowledging that you don’t like something is normal, but I feel like it’s a waste of energy sitting and complaining and btching about things. Practicing gratitude is a good way to naturally be more positive, like finding something positive to be grateful and happy about in a given situation. It just feels miserable to be miserable, at least for me. Enjoyed the vlog as always. Love that you’re getting into the Christmas spirit 😁

I suffer with the SAME type of procrastination 😭 my therapist recommended thinking about the emotions I felt about the other task versus cleaning, and it really came down to being uncomfortable, and I tend to procrastinate when I feel uncomfortable. And the task is something I love to do, but I was putting alot of pressure on myself. Totally understand being disappointed about events! I think its good to acknowledge that yeah, it was disappointing and thats okay that it was disappointing! We should be able to get frustrated just as mich as we are able to be excited. We laughed but like for real, muscle soreness CAN be debilitating. She has had her appendix out & has dislocated her knee so she has pretty good handle on her pain threshold and yeah. She knew something was off and got checked out. It is spring where I am but living vicariously through all the fall vibes haha. I can totally relate to your closing statement about being a negative person because you don't exude happiness all the time. I go about life like that too. I find myself just nonchalantly going through life and even on happy occasions like just like "this is nice". Not overly excited just in my feelings silently. I get it. It's not that we are negative. We just don't know how to express outward how happy we really are.

The funniest back injury story I've ever heard was from the podcast The Box of Oddities. The male host hadn't manscaped in a while, so it took him a while to take care of things. Apparently he didn't stretch beforehand, and he hurt his back. 😂

I had to smile. The whole "negative vs realistic" is a conversation I've had with myself too many times to count. I'm going with "realistic" these days. I mean...crap is crap. Doesn't mean you didn't still enjoy it.

My hands start to hurt when I crochet, so I tell myself to take a break every 30-40 minutes. it's better than being in pain later. 😊 So glad you found a hobby you enjoy!

I’ve hurt myself crocheting too! Messed up my shoulder and it also hurt to breathe for a whole week! They never tell you there’s a possibility of injury on the back of the yarn wraps lol

I totally get the In the Zone Crocheting. I would finish a large skein a day so I would get locked into my goal. It was the best diet ever, because it kept my hands too busy to eat and my brain too involved to think about eating. Plus I made some pretty cool stuff so I felt like I accomplished something by the time I was done.

For me I always try to consider where the feeling is coming from. Like if I'm truly not having a good time or felt disappointed in something I just feel it let it be what it is and move on with my day, but I don't wallow in it. When I'm in an anxious or depressed mood though I find myself creating reasons and excuses for disliking something or being unhappy with a thing and then I know I'm dipping into a genuinely negative mindset (which is more so what I would consider to be a negative person). For really small things that aren't so negative and I see myself being petty and nit picking I just put a positive spin on the situation, but you don't need to stuff your feelings down when you're disappointed.

Seriously, I love that you are looking forward to Christmas 🎄 BTW: I used to clean instead of doing what I really needed to do, too. My new motto is „eat the frog first“ so I finally stopped doing that (and yet my house is still clean)

We stick plant spikes in the soil around the plant to keep cats out! Theyre just sticks vertically in soil around the plant itself, but it takes away the dirt as a comfy place to lay. (Give him beds, towers, and hammocks galore instead!)

I enjoy painting pumpkins much more than carving them! And, after having my kiddos, it’s a lot easier to have them paint pumpkins, too - versus sharp tools and messy pumpkin pulp 😅 😆

A neat trick to keep the soil in the pots and animals or children's hands out of there: But stockings over the inner pot. The let air and water through, are not that visible, but they create a fine barrier.
