Chiminea or Kiva fire, my first one in the new clay chimney outdoor fireplace.

Chiminea fires are romantic, rustic, charming, and artist in their simple beauty. I have always wanted one. So I went to Home Depot and finally did it, and bought an inexpensive three piece set. You get a metal stand, a fire bowl, and a chimney. Then you need to slowly season it over time for fires, following instructions. Here is first paper and cardboard (I used the box) to season it.

I watch the video twice, I might have missed it, but did you put sand at the bottom of the chiminea 2 protected from the fire? I didn't think I see any bricks in there oh, how is it holding up?

Hello. Where I live in Washington State there is a lot of rain so I don't leave it out in the rains. I don't use sand - bricks might work - but it works fine. They are very inexpensive. I have it inside in fall and winter and have a small metal garbage pail upside down inside it where I burn candles on the inside. Simulates an indoor fireplace with large scented candles.

Hows your ceiling? Any stains from chimenae? Im planing setting mine under patio..has 1.5m clearence from top of chimenae..how much clearence do you have?

I never burn under a roof, but it is on a pavement stone out in the open, I store it under a roof from rain and snow, but when I burn there is never a roof over it. This test was to test for that also. in this case draft was great. but moved sensibly.
