Cloudy Sichuan is the same reason as British isles for pale skin in the region. If you look at Global Solar Atlas, it is matched pretty well. This also explains the pale skin distribution world wide.
Rural china really does look like a magical setting, there’s something spiritual about it. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen here in the states.

I bet they were probabaly not like this some 10, 20 years ago cos even city streets were usually "muddy" and "dusty" back in the days here in Southwest be it Chengdu or Chongqing where I'm from 😂 Must say I'm kind of envious of younger generation kids who get to enjoy a much better living environment with well improved infrastructures in most parts of the country 😅

One of the merits of Xi's tenure, however people think of him on other issues. I've driven in some most remote rural regions in the mountains in northern China/ deeply south at the Vietnamese border and there had been always perfect road, despite it having it maybe just one lane. The flow of goods and people road brings is the foundation of any progress that may come.

As a Chengduer I really like watching your video of my hometown. You just bring me new perspectives of reviewing Chengdu from different aspects. Countryside is not so familiar to me but in your video it looks quite beautiful and idyllic. As I was in Chengdu, I never appreaciated my life there, after I went to a foreign country and work there, I have such a homesick. Your video just give me a strong nostalgic feeling. Thanks for showing us the beautiful parts of my hometown.

Another wonderful bike trip through the unknowns. The drying of the beans is reminecense of my young days in my hometown on the tip of Borneo. Though the contraption they used to beat it isn't used here. We used to hang them up and beat it with a stick

Lived in Sichuan and Chengdu for years and moved to Shanghai, the first day I arrived here I was like "woof woof woof" :-) Never, never in my life had I feel this much sunlight. It was until then I really learnt how cloudy Chengdu is!

9:07, those trees are eucalyptus, which is from Australia, koala bear eat the leaves. These tree were introduced into China as raw material of paper industry.

I used to tell my students that WC was better than KFC, you need WC you never need KFC. Coincidentally, we were out in the countryside today, doing what we often do and veering off the roads. Today's trip included a Telecoms tower, lots of hilly bits, rubber plantations and walking in a stream. Nice video again!

9:06 If it's anything like Thailand, those trees could be Eucalyptus trees that are planted for paper production. They're fast growing and it's a set-it-and-forget-it crop to be used on farmland that's out of the way and can't be tended all the time. Loved the ancient town!

It can bring more profit than ordinary crops so there was a time when these trees were very popular in Chinese rural areas. But the government later found that these trees would damage soils as well as biodiversity. As a consequence, planting Eucalyptus has been strictly restricted to a smaller scale.

You should take it further by wearing a bicycle goggles for eye protection next time, plus add few items to your bike like night lights, front, rear, and side wheel reflectors and a long strayed dog wagging stick😁👍

Kathy , one thing to make me to concentrate on you just because you show us the real thing in China which show the pure and simple things in Chengdu , because outside China always assumed Chinese government ‘s reports all about propaganda .
