This is the part people do not understand. Yes, Chinese people are passively monitored, meaning there are cameras all over the place, But by having this it allows the police to catch the thief most of the time very quickly. This allows stores like this to operator without personal. It is also reflected with having a safe environment outside at night. Your daughter or wife can walk the streets and be safe. We would walk to the movies on Saturdays and most of the other kids did too. I was only in second or third grade but that was normal in the late fifties. In the US, they deliver package to your front door, porch pirate driving a car, and snatch your packages. In China, they just put your package in the elevator, It won't be touched for days. I believe in fairness. I get what I need, you get the money in return. You don't scam me, I won't scam you, we do fair business transaction. Never got scammed from ecommerce, food delivery, etc. Even if there is, the number is so miniscule that they think it's probably was an honest mistake, and they just change it outright. And pretty much everything you need can be gotten at an affordable price. So no one cares about stuff you have. You can have expensive camera and lens on your neck, at night. You won't get mugged.

Just out of curiosity...if I enter this so-called "autonomous" convenience shop (without purchasing anything), can I still exit the store without any conditions? 😊
@MrAlexCage4 ай бұрын
I think you can exit, coz i used Alipay to enter and for exit also Alipay App. It has nothing to do with purchasing.

@@MrAlexCage So technically, I could grab something without paying for it and still exit the store? 🤔
@englishpedant3 ай бұрын
@@simonloh4592 technically yes, but as you've already scanned in using your phone, and your phone number is linked to your passport / ID card in China. I guess they could find you pretty easily or at the very least disable your WeChat/Alipay or disconnect your phone network so that you can't make any future payments.

There are some things that work very well in China that just doesn't work in western countries, even in a rich country like Australia. Some years ago a company put in bicycle sharing facilities in Melbourne, but this failed because most of the bicycles were thrown into the river by thugs.
@dotajames914 ай бұрын
the Australia government failed to catch the thugs? thugs and criminals cant survive in China so they left the country and cost harm in other SEA countries.

That is really inspiring that people don't steal or destroy public bicycles.

There are over one million foreigners in China. Just ask them if they would like to choose to live in the United States or China. I can guarantee that over 90% of them will choose to live in China because they all enjoy China's security.

Honestly. It's 23:03 in China. I'm going downstairs to have a midnight snack. I ate late today. You don't have to eat at 4:00 in the morning. In some people's minds. I use a funny way to express: being robbed is a kind of happiness. At least you've witnessed something you probably won't experience in your life.

This is why in America, you work hard to make money so you can afford not to live in areas where there are lots of poor Blake people. If you live in affluent areas is America, you are relatively safe.
