Many could not accept that China had advanced in all areas and live in a sense of denial and bury their head in the sand. Year after year those China haters predict economic collapse in China but it is going stronger and resilient. Who would ever think of using Chinese hand phone. Even I don't use Chinese hand phone except my faithful Apple I- phone. But times have changed, my friends have changed using the Chinese high end , cutting edge technology Huawei hand phone packed with more features and cheaper too.. Even my wife buys Huawei phone at half the price of an Apple. A few years back people would laugh at you if you buy Made In China Hand phone and they said you bought a junk.

Factories have already started to leave China for cheaper places due to the rising wages and cost of living in general. What they are doing that is clever is helping to build the infrastructure and investing financially in some of these new factory driven places. I strongly suggest checking out the China in Africa podcast for updated info from scholars who have a long term interest and perspective on China.

Everybody think that foreign companies begin to leave China to another country in their hundreds because of rising wages in China, but the reality is the opposite, why...? China's manufacturing sector is already upgrading their level from low tech stuff to high tech precision manufacturing techniques involving lots of automation and robotics, in the last 5 years China spent over $49 billion in robotics and automation, and going to spent hellalot more in coming years. This means Chinese experience and expertise in high tech manufacture is almost on par with the West, South Korea, and Japan, while all developing country left way far behind in this field. Lots of people think that foreign companies will leave China and go to Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Thailand because wages there are cheaper, but leaving and moving is one thing, if the country they try to move have absolutely nothing(infrastructure, experience, and expertise, skilled workers, efficiency, technology) then it just doesn't work. All of these countries are simply can't compete with China in terms of hi-tech manufacturing techniques, experience, and expertise. Everytime all developing countries try to compete and catch up with China in this field China already moving way far ahead.

The legend has it that when the European explorers came to New York Manhattan, they bought the whole Manhattan with some trinkets of shiny glass beats. That is how the Europeans and Americans made money around the world, through wars and through trinkets of shiny glass beats. What China did is realizing that those are just trinkets. And so they mass produce these trinkets in such a scale that make them ALL CHEAP WITH REASONABLY GOOD QUALITY. They turn CPU chips into trinkets of cheap with good quality. Remember the old days when CPU chips are the crowns of Western technology advancement? Each CPU is like the marvel of the Gods to the people around the world. Chinese just make them, shrug their shoulders and sell them like nothing. They turn cars, both combustion and electric, into trinkets of cheap with good quality. They even 319-seater trans-continental airplanes into trinkets of cheap with good quality. Oh well relatively speaking of course. Everything are but trinkets of cheap with good quality when they come from China. And to top it off, they just built a huge network of high speed train in 10 years! The tiny inter-county connector road took my local government 20 years to build. And the Chinese just built a huge network of high speed train like NOTHING. What does that mean? That means the days of producing something and sell them at extraordinary price are long gone. The aura of exceptionalism and greatness are nothing but just trinkets in the eyes of Chinese, who can just look at anything and just reproduce it. 10 times cheaper, 1000 times larger in scale. LV? $2000 for a bag? You kidding me? Chinese can make it WITH EXACTLY SAME HIGH QUALITY for less than $50. CPU at 5nm. You think that is secret of the Western industrial crown jewel? China can make it too, 70% cheaper. Everything they touch, they can just make it equally good and much cheaper. You can always diss them that they don't make the same quality. But that is not true. They can make equally good quality products as long as you give them the price within 30% of what it costs you to make. The reason that some products are cheap with low quality is that because you give them the price at 1%, 5%, 10% and you pocket the rest. So you see, Chinese make all these products cheap with good quality. That means the Europeans and Americans can not fool the current day Native Americans from selling Manhattan with nothing but some trinkets of shiny objects. The Native Americans can get TONS of trinkets of shiny beats from the Chinese. And that is the problem that is facing the Europeans and Americans.

I can't disagree with that. I think (from a non-Chinese vantage point) or feel the Chinese are moving from pride and hardworking to cleverness and arrogance. Chinese probably can't see that, but others can. With all the disputes China has with it's neighbors, which mostly are of their (China's) own making, they are now in a mood to prepare for war...something historically many countries have done when they became overconfident.

adam dada China is an issue with everyone due to their lack of concern for others. In the US both political parties see this as an issue. Ask other "hard working" people around the world and you'll usually hear the same message. Bottom line, Chinese need improvement in honesty, ethic, and integrity - attributes most of them sorely lack.

Considering that China is number one in average IQ, along with Japan and Korea of course, that it has a rich history to look back to and draw insights from, and that it builds its culture on literature and the humanities, the Chinese, in my humble opinion, are the wisest people in the world. Hmm,, China is also the most superficial. Most of their technology is adopted , hijacked or stolen from other Countries... China cannot even build its own Jet Engines for its Passenger Aircraft. Most of the technology for their space program was Russian - they couldn't even make reliable space suits..! Despite the progress ; the quality of their products is not good. China has reached a stage of critical mass ; it's showing signs of being over cooked, whereby , its currency is propped, artificially pegged & any trade imbalance could bring a domino collapse. Mass production is its Strength whilst the area of Innovation is its Weakness ; Where China works well, is as a setup producer ; not as a leader or prime mover.!

America is just not in building mode. It can't cause it's pretty much corporate owned, which means profits first. That turns the states to be much short sights. China government body is much stronger to move fast. And it's people are already used to working hard. Nowadays, they are more into details because of the growing too. At the same time, America is still digging into same old number games. Therefore instead of making new profits, they are only shifting profits like it's new tax reform. American companies may be a little more competitive, but cross your fingers they would help the states back home as return. It's just going to tax more from American to pay back the cost which is trillions more to the deficit.

depends. if the corps can save by have a corp tax that is low enough, they will return. You can beat the Asians at their own game, just give the same subsidies and breaks you give to the foreigner back to US companies. Hold politicians accountable also. The issue is there is too much market eye candy in China, a huge population with spending power, same in India, Nigeria etc. I think Trump is trying to keep/bring the mfg back, and open up access to their markets. Its the same thing the Asians have been doing to the U.S.

Chesty Buller there's so many things to talk. i think i can use sanitary/health as a measure of the return. if i am not wrong, the next #1 thing china is going to reach while still tackling other existing focuses is this. Chinese is already believing the country's growing. Having #1 in health care access can make even bigger blow for the world to see (similar to suburban trains/etc). In America, the return from Obamacare is already a failure, quality obviously down and premium still rising fast. The premium is already as high as mortgage payment. we just don't have the power besides taxes. like the gov didn't encourage anything like for the Obamacare to include social & moral benefits to encourage health care providers or the fields. My niece is working hard in emergency and they are so short handed. it takes great courage to be real helper taking the course to become a professional in this field. many now reluctant to be doctors even. they rather just get to nursing. the country needs to grow ppl in the fields. i know this is a much harder issue, but i believe the Chinese gov would say "why not". this is based on few visiting care experiences for last 15 years there. It's changed a lot, just not there yet.

Hi Gweilo, Here would be a typical response, partly summarised in... "Why America isn't the greatest country in the world anymore" - KZbin. Next, regarding size of populations, India and China have longer histories, spanning a few thousand years. The US at one time was only a British colony, so 200+ years of history, can't produce that much of people in such a short time. 😂 And China can be regarded as a late bloomer, waiting for the West to develop, from the British Empire to the US. Cheers

To be completely fair. China's economy is booming when there is no war so it can produce and export goods. America's economy is booming when there is war so it can sell firearms to others and suppress other nations. Different periods make different #1. But America still holds the highest GDP thanks to Wall Street that manipulates USD value.

They said the same thing about Japan in the 80s, they made toys gadgets etc, then improved on that and sold appliances and cars, then crashed. China depends on the US for innovation, just like Japan did. The population is a huge dynamic, but I dont think they will take over. The US is finally investing in itself and the over correcting about everything is counter productive, agreed but the Asians still go there for all their education

Chesty Buller A ha ha. The West have left Japan for dead. How typical of the west. Japanese are smart people, they will understand where their hopes and future lie. They will not be forgotten the bashing they got from the west when they were the lone Asian in the rich western club.

Guoren Zhong China pledge "never strike first with nukes" policy. Nukes are for self defence only. Japan and South Korea on the other had, never able/ allowed to produce nukes of their own. As a result they have to rely on US military and they are under occupation forever.

Thinking about China is using 80 years to catch up and overtake the west, I mean think about it, China is really getting back to the position where it was like thousand years ago.
