he Chinese consumers’ expensive taste is driving growth of the luxury market and fueling a boom in luxury five-star hotels in cities across China.
The number of wealthy Chinese recently surpassed the number of wealthy Americans, according to Credit Suisse. The survey found 100 million Chinese in the world’s top 10% of richest people, while the United States has 99 million in the same bracket.
“The Chinese luxury traveler is the most booming segment of luxury in the world,” said Craig Smith, Marriott International’s group president for Asia-Pacific, who oversees more than 750 hotels in the region.
“The Chinese customers are very well educated. They’re much more now into personalized service,” said Matthias Terrettaz, general manager of the Bulgari Hotel in Shanghai.

It's a bit hard to travel too, because I don't have Chinese ID, so everytime I showed my passport at every single gate, the staff pretty much have no idea what to do. Everybody else just scan their ID and pass. When I visited the Qin palace in Heng Dian, the manager got frustrated because his staff took 25 mins to figure out how to check in my family. He ended up asking us took a photo together with him and the rest of the staff so when we visit another palace in Hengdian, just show that photo and tell the staff we have been id-ed and good to enter.

I can personally attest to everyone that China DOES have the best hotels in the world. The architectural design, size, attention to detail, amenities, and level of service are unbeatable especially when you factor in the price. Alex, I am so jealous of you. If China swung its door wide open to visitors, it would be flooded in an instant with videos like this. I would be there every year. I am a huge fan of China's zero covid policy but damn the travel restrictions.

ZERO COVID is the most unscientific, histerical policy that can ever be undertaken, anywhere. Imagine if someone talked Xi into enforcing a ZERO Flu or a ZERO Cough policy. Enjoy that experience. My favorite by far is Hilton in Shekou Shenzhen! The location is perfect for everything. Next to ocean front with beautiful walkway that you can either walking/jogging/biking and it's so beautiful and clean. It also closer to Shekou center with all the eateries that including Western and Asian food. Can't wait going back to China again:=))

@@Reporterfy Hi Alex! If I were traveling to some Caribbean or island destination, my hotel/resort stay would become my first priority. China on the other hand, offers so much beauty and amazement from one city to the next, and it is there that destination would take priority over hotel for myself. The Castle hotel truly caught my eye, yet I would be just as happy to stay at the Sheraton right in Chongqing, with it’s historical skyscraper appearance. I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever, that staying at any of these exclusive hotels will offer A+ amenities, along with outstanding services and attention provided by the hotel staff. The appearance and design of all the hotels you’ve shared with us do indeed create interest and strike up further curiosity. Yet, to stay at any of these places, inevitably, it will be the hotel staff that will determine your approval. The Chinese people have such a politeness, caring and positive attitude, and within a hotel setting, probably even more so for it’s guests. Regardless of hotel choice here, I believe one would want to return back time and again to any hotel choice they’ve made. The price of hotel very reasonable compare to the quality of Hotel. Mean luxury for less very well worthy to use the hotel service in China. My family next stop for vocation is China. 🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉

The castle hotel is in my city and it is said the design team try to copy the Schloss Neuschwanstein.🤣Anyway this building was the former Shell museum , and in my memory it was not change too much.
