Neither China uncensored nor learn chinese now, nor off the great wall are, so far as I see, funded by the US government.
@QuizmasterLaw6 жыл бұрын
I doubt that because I've done lots of things which interest intelligence (languages, military history) yet never once have had overt or covert offers of fundng. Plus china uncensored and such seem too shrill and amateurish to merit funding. I mean, you can claim CIA this CIA that but without any evidence it's blahblah.

It just made me feel irrationaly good for no reason when I see someone learn Traditional Chinese, instead of Simplified Chinese. Good video, man!
@richardchen13432 жыл бұрын
good or not, the main reason for the Chinese to teach simplified characters was due to the low literacy rate then - if the Koreans and Japanese didn't find traditional characters hard, they wouldn't have created their own writing system either. Stop trying to associate simplifed Chinese as a negative thing, most of the characters are also derived from the already established simplified writing system way before the PRC made their own system.

Whether or not the United States is a democracy depends on how you define democracy. When America was founded, our founding fathers said that all democracies fail, and that we were a republic. At the time when this was said, the definition of democracy was simply "Complete rule by the majority". It is very clear that the majority does not always rule in America (ie. Bush/Gore election of 2000) so that is why many say we are not a democracy. However, the definition of democracy has changed significantly over the last few hundred years to "A government where representatives are elected by the majority". So in short, by modern definitions, America is a democracy. By the definitions that existed in the 1700's when America was founded it is not.
The pronunciation of the short form of 習近平總書記, 習總, in Cantonese, is the same as that of 雜種, literally meaning "mixed race", which is usually an insult.

So how do they pick people for the 中國人民政治協商會議? It sounds like nothing but an exercise in PR, a way for them to say they "consulted with" the people of China. Then again, the American system isn't much better what with all the lobbyists that are supported by rich oil companies. *shrug* For that matter how do they choose people for the 全國人民代表會議? Do they have local elections? Seriously, otherwise what's the point. I mean, if they aren't fooling anybody then what is the point?
@荷兰鬼5 жыл бұрын
Martin Phipps NPC全国人民代表会议 is local election,one man one vote,but most of chinese don’t do that.

3:53 not quite. There is a difference between Chairman and President. Chairman is the chairman of the party and the head of state is the President. The President has always also been the Chairman, although technically the President does not have to be the chairman. 主席= Chairman 总统= President. There was no “switch” for PR purposes. Xi Jinping is both the President, head of state, and Chairman, chairman of the communist party.
@seanpan58467 жыл бұрын
CCP won power through a bloody civil war(4 million PLAs beat 8 million KMT's nationalist army), therefore PRC's constitution mandated that PRC under the leadership of CCP in consultation with other friendly progressive political parties, will exercise people's democratic authoritarianism. That's a mouthful also, isn't it. In American court, the judge may slam the gavel and yell:" Order, order." In China, the person responsible for maintaining order in a meeting,may say something like this: " Everybody, let me say it again; please take your seat and keep quiet, otherwise I may have to impose authoritarianism on you and that wouldn't be nice. ". It meant to be humorous. Which tell me that Chinese do read their constitution, or the warning wouldn't be understood.

josh newman The electoral college is an important part of the American presidential selection institution.In the American electoral system, people don't really vote for presidential candidates. Instead, voters cast their ballots for "electors" who support each candidate.Similar to the Chinese people's Congress System。
