Chinese Android HeadUnit current draw (Sleep Mode)

Hello all,
Since I did not find any video on the internet regarding the current draw of this android car Headunits I decided to test them on my own.
This test comes from the need of having the sleep mode activated in order for the unit to not start with a cold boot every time. But a lot of people noticed a huge battery drain when this feature is ON.

I connected two small plugs (black) and my CarPlay only works when these two plugs are connected. However, when those plugs are connected, the CarPlay unit stays on all the time, even after I turn off and shut down the car. It never shuts down. My car is a Skoda Fabia Mk2. Maybe you know how to fix this problem?

Very useful. On my device, this setting is not clear. It says no sleep, sleep 2 hours, 1 day or 3 days, and when translated in French, you can imagine the result. But on my car, even if I'm choosing no sleep, 2 hours, 1 day or 3 days, it is always doing an hibernate and a reboot. I measured the +12v perm, and it is present on the connector. Only when I'm doing a factory reset the device is sleeping, but after some hours, it doesn't sleep again and goes to hibernate.

Hi i was wondering if it's possible to cut the 12v constant wire and run the unit only off the 12v accessory wire? Will this cause any issues? This is only because my unit does not have a sleep turn off setting and only a sleep delay with intervals of 10-60-120 ect and im sure its not rebooting from an off mode. I dont want my batttery to drain.

It depends on the unit you have. Might happen that you will lose some settings like for example the radio saved frequencies.

It's the navifly nf4 and I use it only for android auto tbh no other function.

Then it should work. But you will need to connect the unit thru your contact key.

What do you mean by contact key? Also is it possible to put the constant wire in the same hole as the accessory? Will that work for my situation?

Exactly what I wanted to say. You need to bridge the constant wire with the accessory wire. Meaning unit will reelceive power only when the key is switched.

That's neither sleep nor standby mode but off mode. If it in sleep mode, the screen will not start from booting if it wakes. :) Sleep or standby mode easily consuming 1.7mV or 450mA :)

Great help! In 6:39 you are saying you are measuring mA but you are measuring mV, also later in the video where you are reading in the chart to the chart which is also in mV. Confused me a bit since I have a different multimeter and initially tried to set it to mA (which would also require a different input socket on most multimeters). Do you have a link to the chart somewhere, that would make it easier for other to read their values?

Was looking for this exact same thing. Had to ride my bike to work today because I installed a radio like that on the weekend and my battery flat. Let’s hope it’s actually that setting.

@@benassy69 I set it to not sleeping and recharged my battery. I won’t drive the next two days and will check on the weekend if the battery has gone flat again. If I remember I will let you if this helped.

Try factory settings and enter 000000 for password if you have one similar to mine. Sleep setting will be in there.

@@zikomaestroin factory settings you’ll need to find default power status press and change to OFF then apply then exit and radio ask for a reboot press ok.
