Panasonic, Nichicon, Rubycon and a few others. Never go cheap on electrolytics.

My personal favorite would have to be Nichicon. I especially like their audio line-up of capacitors!

3:39 So, you can replace a capacitor with one rated for a higher voltage as long as the microfarad matches?
@leewright6101 Жыл бұрын
are the replacements rated 85c.. its looks to me , whole reason they swell is heat so shurely 105c would be better or are they 105c,
@Mr.ElectroniCET Жыл бұрын
You would be correct on that point, they were rated for 85c. I wouldn't be surprised if the area heats up past 85c too. I put them in because it was what I had available at the time...

Guess those Xicon branded are not suitable/ low quality. Use Japanese ones of low ESR & high temperature rating 105degC or higher.

The ones I used are pretty good. They are still holding up.

What was the fault reported when it was brought in?
@Mr.ElectroniCET Жыл бұрын
The customer stated that his set wouldn't turn on properly. Customer took a look at it, and saw one of the electrolytic capacitors were swollen. This is a known problem with cheap Hisense TVs, so I knew that after replacing those electrolytic caps, his TV would turn on normally (even though I did not have the rest of the set with me).

How old is the TV?? I suppose we should be glad they are using easy(ish) to replace electrolytics and not the bollock-achingly annoying SMD's.
@Mr.ElectroniCET Жыл бұрын
I'm not certain how old the TV was, but I can say for certain it wasn't more than 3 years old. As for the electrolytics, even if they were the SMD variant, it would have been easy to replace too. There are some tricks to dealing with SMD variants that's why.

the reason why the capacitors are swollen is because the leds are going bad and consuming more current 🥰
@Mr.ElectroniCET Жыл бұрын
Yea, I figured. Either way, the set that this main board came from will guarantee fail because of crappy Chinese backlights.
@elektrokinesis4150 Жыл бұрын
CCFL tubes do that, LEDs don't. LED drivers are constant current mode pwm drive
@exittech1282 Жыл бұрын
@@elektrokinesis4150 you really have no idea what you are saying.🤣
@elektrokinesis4150 Жыл бұрын
@@exittech1282 please explain to me how a device on a current controlled circuit is going to consume more current as it's resistance changes higher, it's not. The voltage will creep up until the controller chip cuts it off, or until a single LED fails and kills the series of LEDs on the circuit. Eventually the LED driver will deactivate on high voltage. Your capacitors should be rated for this voltage, but sometimes they are not. I am not aware of what the nominal LED voltage on this particular TV is at 100% backlight.
@exittech1282 Жыл бұрын
@@elektrokinesis4150 I do this for a living so its so so simple. an led can be defective and causing the circuit to produce more current, i am guessing you never experience such things🤣 so lets say the capacitors are rated 350v 10uf like the ones on the hisense on this video, and for your info i work on them all the time, when the leds are going it takes more current to drive them and the backlight circuit can more than enough produce it. the current draw is high but the voltage will look ok, also the capacitors will get hot ive seen this many times and the cause of the capacitors swelling is because of the leds🥰

They sure are... I don't want anything to do with them! Thanks for watching!
