Putting some of that pork & pickled into hot rice, mix then let it sit- flavor soaks in ! Amazing.

The pickled stuff is basically a Chinese version of kraut, it's supposed to be mixed into rice/noodles/congee for a bit of extra flavor.

Howdy Amigo! I have tried, 3-4 types of these rations. Only problem I found, veggies and fruit, minimal portions, maybe 3 pcs. Mains, usually rice and protein , taste excellent. I love the knife Bro! Your sides seem larger than I remember? The FRH'S rock, although concerned, what they are made of, LOL. I wipe off U.S., mres, after cooking, so, I dang well do, foreign rations. ​@@ReadinessRations Yes, in Far Eastern cuisine, pickled veggies are often not meant to be eaten alone; in this case, they're to be used as a condiment/texture enhancer.

Nice job on this one👍Madog had a different menu with those same mustard green type things. When you said cumin I instantly thought 5 spice, as you later mentioned, I bet that was fantastic. Repacked from canned is odd unless canned to them means something else.🤔

I kinda dig these chinese mains and I think it's because they are fairly oily. Much better than those Uncle Ben's rice packs you can buy. Great video buddy!

Also, I'm pretty sure this is the civilian version. I remember the military version usually came with some extra snacks like condensed biscuits, beef rolls, or canned peaches.

First, it takes 10 minutes to heat the main dish up properly in the FRH. Second, the pork & pickled vegetable, are made to be eaten WITH the main dish.

So about 900+ calories.....How the hell does that qualify as a meal. Even at three a day thats like 2700 calories. That might keep a child alive but not an adult. Especially an active adult.

So weird ... Every other review I've watched on Chinese MRE's were just horrible. The food quality was damn near zero, Alas this is the first video where the food actually looked pretty damn good.

As a Chinese I had some of those back in the basic military training week of my first year of high school, the older ones from the Type 09 series tasted like absolute ass, but the newer ones are pretty ok.
