Most current youtube review of my Chinese Scooter, a Tao Tao Lancer 150cc. Question or comments are more than welcome, I don't know everything but will share what I do know about any gy6 no matter the amount of CC's. As promised in the video, here are the links to the gentlemen that helped me make a fairly easy decision in purchasing this bike. Thanks guys.

Like the channel ..I bought a used 2017 Tao tao150 also about 6 months ago. I had a Harley sportster years ago but wanted to get back into 2 wheels after an absence.. I change fluids every 900 miles or so, keep spark plug gapped, adjust valves every 1000 miles and the usual maintenance aka tightening fasteners.. I have not had any problems at all. I treat gas occasionally and run 91 octane... Replaced fuel lines with braided fuel lines...... Just my experience... If someone has a few skills and tools this is a very worthy ride... Had it up to 60 mph but usually hold it to 50... Upgrading to high flow intake similar to yours... $16.00 plus new jet worth it... Anyway, thanks for sharing your informative and fun vids....

The motorcycle test is sooooooooo much easier to take on a scooter than a motorcycle. Just practice your figure eights in the street, which should be 10 feet wide. There are video's on-line that show you the motorcycle safety course test. You even have the chance to skip over the class and just go take the test.

Hey MM-GO, to be honest brother, one of the top 5 things I dislike about the bike is how she handles potholes or big bumps. I also rode 2-up once and didn't like that either. Now, she does have 2 shocks that can be adjusted but I haven't worked on those as of yet. Upgraded tires would help but as my little street runner I avoid bumps and potholes as much as possible. K-KID ... your inclusion of how the purchase decision was made was very worthwhile to have included. my guess tho is you live in flat midwest country. where how it does up hills is not so important. or is this just something you overlooked ? my big question is this. your estimate please on how well it will get me from where i live in colorado at 5300' up a dirt road 13 miles to cripple creek at 9500' . with one particularly steep climb along the way. if it can maintain 10 to 12 mph uphill it'll be ok enough. that stretch of road is called the 'gold belt'. maybe you know of it. very popular with visitors. lots of scenery and places to stop and poke around. thanks bob colorado

@kachiskid 3 жыл бұрын
Bob, Yes I live in the flat plains of Michigan. Now this can be a little tricky...thanks to KZbin I have seen a little of Cripple Creek, your not talking about Shelf Road are you? Or is your route paved? Either way, I think I would want you to have a fuel injected vehicle when traveling at that change of altitude in that short of time. That is a big time increase in elevation for a carburetor. That being said, and not seeing the exact road, you should have no problem doing 15-25 mph. Stay off Gold Camp...I hear it's haunted...lol.

@@kachiskid k-kid ... thanks for checking replies to your past posts. and , yes, the road in question is shelf road. from my front door to bronco billy's is 25 miles. ( 50 cent breakfast until 1100 ) the road from town here to the south end of shelf rd has been paved since the 90's. so i just trailer my yamaha xt225 there and park/unload it. by doing this all the 12 miles of flat-land is behind me. trail riding is seldom done anymore, that 225 , at 265# has become too heavy for me to lift when a fall happens. father time says its time to trade it in for a scooter and stick to paved roads. your comment about efi has me see now that with an atmos' sensor it can auto'ly adjust the fuel-air mixture on the go. fly safe

I just barely made it home. The scooter kept stopping on me, shutting down. I was right to think that it might be the spark plug wire. It was loose or off completely. I bought a new blug wire after reading about upgrades needed. The plug I bought does not snap down on the plug or will not stay on it. Hell, I was not even going to put it on in the first place, because I can't even see the damn plug down in that hole where they have it. A young kid saw me off the road and stopped to help. He put zip ties on the plug wire to hold it down in place temporarily. Now what?

My scooter, the Lancer 150 is now choking up after 25 mph and it seems to be surging or wanting to go faster then hesitating or losing power over and over like something is holding it back or choking it. I do not want to start messing with carberators and would rather buy a new one. Never did replace feul and vacuum lines and they don't seem to be cracked or messed up in any way. I would like to put a K&N filter on but that back fender seems to be in the way. If we do away with the fender then the filter will be filthy and muddy with no protection. Don't think it is the spark plug but what do I know. It starts up just fine and runs fine off the line, just don't want to go full tilt and something is wrong with it. It will still go up to 40 or so on flat ground or downhill, but it is dying on the hills going up and is worse than before on the hills these last couple days.
@kachiskid
@kachiskid 5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak, or the carb needs to be cleaned. Is it hard to start the bike up? Check the manifold for leaks. How many miles do you have on the bike? Seems like the kickstand is too long on mine, which I just put together today. The bike don't seem to want to stay up with the kickstand down. Sucks! Also, that mat or pad on the floor has round knobs which go into holes, but they don't want to go into the holes at all. Might have to hammer the damn things down maybe.....
@kachiskid
@kachiskid 5 жыл бұрын
LOL. Yeah the kickstand is crazy bad, I let my bike fall over a total of 7 times before I stopped using it. I was thinking of using the hammer also I just haven't yet. Center stand shows me love though, even though mine is deformed now I like it. Mats of the floor suck but they will settle over time just don't break those round knobs. You might want to heat the mat to relax it.

@@kachiskid I going the have to go with the blue one, my current bike is blue and is a big body zuma clone/ xplorea 50 with an 80cc big bore. The clash 200 EFI 168cc is the clone from the Honda click 150i which the Honda click was not available in the us. It has a nice sporty look with 14inch wheels which you don’t usually see on a scooter. I post videos on my tik tok page on my current bike. Since there’s little to no videos on the clash. I will post not just a walk around but a lot of what I would want to see if someone else had this bike. There’s walk around videos on it not riding videos. Also the clash uses a lifan made 168cc LF161QMK engine

Blue is awesome! Oh yeah I know all about the Honda Click, when they 1st came out, I wanted to get one imported from the Philippines. I knew they would rip off that style over here, it is just to damn cute! Those 14 inch tires are gonna be perfect also, nice smooth ride for the most part. If I were gonna steal a scooter today, it would be the Clash...lol. Still trying to get a Yamaha Aerox imported over here though. Need them to copy that plastic mold, and throw it on a frame...I will buy it!

@@kachiskid agreed I would love to get the Honda click imported here wish Honda would sell it here In the US! but the clone seems to be a spit in clone pretty much identical besides the click being water cooled and other specs and minor things. Top speed once the clone is broken in your looking at 62 mph on a flat a little faster than your stock 150cc carbureted bike which I like! The click makes a lot more power being water cooled tho! The clash is air cooled which is obvious. O well hopefully I like the feel of the clash and me being 5’4. Im hoping the handle bar position and seating position is the same on my scooter. My handle bars on my scoot are adjustable to my liking the clash is a fixed handle bar so you can’t adjust the handle bars unless there a way, hoping that won’t be a problem lol, i really like the looks of the clash and the fuel injection i really hope I like the feel of the clash!

I owned 2 Tao Tao’s out of necessity because no one sold anything else in my area. I can confidently say these bikes are absolute JUNK. They are prone to breaking in the weirdest spots and even the rubber is just cheap. The seats are flimsy and not even secure when you lock them. I could pull mine up after it was locked with just a little bit of effort. Do not secure anything in those wells. If you want a bike that will last you years without headaches? Get a Honda, Yamaha or Kymco.

@@acidbathmaniac - I agree. That’s why I bought one because they were cheap. (my budget was tight at the time.) But I regretted it because I probably spent more on those bikes in the long run. It got to the point that I would literally look up to the sky and say “please“ hoping it would work whether I was stepping outside my door or out shopping somewhere. I would’ve been better off waiting and saving for a quality bike. The best bike I ever owned was the People 150 by Kymco. I put almost 20,000 miles on it and it never broke down. The biggest upkeep was changing the belt, which was normal, tires and headlights. Other than that? It was rocksolid. I regret having to get rid of it. (I moved) I highly recommend Kymco to anyone. It’s the only bike that comes with a two-year warranty plus mileage. There are no other warrantees like that. Stay away from all that Italian crap as well.

@@kachiskid I putted 49,000 kms in 4 years, every 6 months I had to replace the ignition coil, engine leaks I fixed on both oil seals, Volvo cover, starter o-ring. Shocks went bad more that 3 times, ALL BUSHINGS had to be replaced, rear shock bushings, engine bushings, back part of engine bushings where the rear shocks sit. Piston blew die to bad timing chain. The valve seat went loose, and I had to replace piston, cylinger and head. Open up the whole engine to withdraw the shavings frommmnmm the broke down. Accelerator cable broken 2 times. ALL the plastics hinges are broken. My front plastic where the headlights go, is wrapped up with elastic strings, ( Most of the scooters if my friends have similar problems.) The sparkplug cap damages the spark plug threads, so I need to replace a working spark plug just cz of the threads. I cant remember anything else. I bought a Yamaha Zuma 125, my neighbor has 10,000 .jiles on it from 2009 sits on the sun every day, he has replaced NOTHING, he has done NOTHING to the engine. mandapalque, thanks for the write up, very impressive, so let me explain....I bought this bike because it was cheap and I could take it apart and build a "real" bike. To start this channel I knew getting a bike that already could hit 70mph would be useless, there would be nothing to do. For the price I got the bike for I already had a reasonable expectation. A lot of people comment without know the whole story and the purpose of the channel, (which I'm not accusing you of at all) which is to get a cheap bike and build her up to my liking. My current setup is a 171cc Taida engine, have completely changed over the CVT, carb. tires, fuel lines, mirrors, pretty much everything, which makes it a total different bike. My bike has been a treat to own so far, but you can bet the moment something happens that shouldn't, I'll let everyone know. Yamaha, Vespa, Aprillia, she not, but she makes me smile every time I look at her. She is no longer a Tao Tao but a Kachi's Kid special edition...lol.
