Chinese Scooter ToaTao Thunder Alarm and Remote Start Install

Great video! My two cents...I installed alarm/remote starters on my 2015 Heritage BMS Scooter and my 2022 il Bello Amigo scooter. Both were Znen scooters. Both had the plug Harry showed in his video already wired in, so it was a snap. I will say that the first alarm/remote starter I bought off Amazon (Banvie), for whatever reason, didn't operate properly. I then bought another similar alarm/remote starter (Atfwel) and it worked great on both scooters. This week I took delivery of a 2024 Ice Bear Hawkeye scooter and after speaking with their tech, I was told the wiring harness is pretty standard on all GY6 scooters and that it did in fact also have the plug prewired to add an alarm/remote starter. I ordered another Atfwel alarm/starter, and it comes in tomorrow. If I don't update this, it means the install went well.

That Guy Awesome! Mine still works but I have to say that I don’t like the remote with a built in key. On my scooter it sticks straight out where my knee could break it off. I use the remote and factory key setup.

@@harrysgarage5039 yeah I just use the Remote key to open my locking seat so I don't have to turn the engine off I have a flatslide carb and it has to be choked on cold days so I just use it to get to my carb

I actually wouldn't Recommend a flat slide unless you intend to bore up by the way, Because It gets maybe 1+ mph and its a little tricky getting them tuned right

I got my alarm hooked up today. It's obnoxiously loud and sensitive. Sadly the remote start doesn't work exactly right. I still would recommend this alarm to anyone with a motorcycle or scooter.

@@capebongo6622 They aren't really branded. If you take the front panel off your scooter and you have a plug with a wire that loops back into itself you can install one.

Thanks for this video. I just bought a very used scooter with this system and will more than likely reverse what you did to delete this system. My scooter will not start with the key, it will only start with the remote. Does yours do this since the install?

Do you have a stock setup or have you made any mods to your air intake? If you have made mods to your air intake without adjusting the carb or rejecting this may cause this. You could have a dirty carb as well. What kind of scooter do you have? What model engine?

Duncan, I had a tao tao Paladin 150. t would bog down at times. I did some reserch and was advised to replace the spark plug wire with a better brand equivalent. I replaced my spark plug connector with a Nippondenso spark plug connector and it got better. You may have to up grade some parts as you can afford to, to improve the performance/ operation of the budget conscience scooter.

If your talking about the 9v connector, my unit didn't come with one, there was a place to put one on the board, but they didn't install one, so, probably not a requirement.
