These kinds of things can be maddening. Trying to figure out the problem can be a search into the unknown. I rebuilt a 100cc big bore upgrade last night. The battery would not register as fully charged on the charger. It was as max charged as you could get. It took going through the actual firing chain, Plug-Coil-Connections-Ajacent wiring to find the problem. It did kick. It started. Kind of odd overall. I don't know what did the magic trick but it seems working the wires over in the actual firing system was what seemed to do the trick. I think the plug was just off the coil boot connecter. It won't run like that.

For those of you having this problem check your stator and the inside of your flywheel for corrosion or rust. Clean both with Emory cloth and blow out any residual.

Make sure you are not sucking air around your intake manifold. Mine was cracked. Replace all fuel lines and air dry rot cracks ect.

I have a 2015 Taotao with the same problem. The solution was to replace the lead acid battery with lithium iron phosphate from the company that makes Battery Tender float/trickle chargers. The battery was about $125 and about 1/2 the size as the standard battery,. It put out enough juice to spin the engine fast enough to start the scooter every time. It lasted over four years. When it died I was broke and bought another lead acid. I have to kickstart the engine when cold. The kick starter spins the engine faster. The electric starter only does the job when the engine is hot. Valves are properly adjusted, good compression, lots of power. Just a no love battery.

Im going thru the same thing with a 150cc Taho Taho. Replaced the carb amnd filled with new gas after draing tank completely last Fall. Will check spark and try a battery booster next. Thanks much!

I got a 50cc Ice bear Maddox Ruckus and I accidentally put regular gas in it but it says to use octane - is that ok??? I can't find any info on google- I'm a chick trying to learn this stuff on my own

Octane is only the rating of the fuel. It may says to use 87 octane in which is regular pump gas at your local or any gas station for that matter. Thanks,

Whatever is easiest and won't mess up my engine is what I want to do

It's not going to hurt anything. It's about performance. You may lose some power (you won't even notice it) but that's about it. You can use some 93 to balance it off.

I'm going to try replacing my gauge wire to a heavy duty gauge. also when you're on the run if you bring your 18V or 20V cordless drill battery and just run quick wires from it to your battery it really helps to start

Yep, I would remove the bowl and clean it. Also spray the bottom of the carb into the jet with carb cleaner once you remove the bowl and I am pretty sure it will be fine. Thank you so much for watching.

i kick start it a few times before i turn the key than i turn the key and kick start it and it will start right up but if i try to start it by the the starter motor it would not start sometimes and even if i turn the key of and kick start it it happens on cold mornings only so i always kick start to start i get up a little earlier and start it up if it starts up i take my time before school if not i have to get ready quicker than usual to go with my brother

@@allaboutfamily5192 under the front case closest to your feet. There are valves that hit the intake and exhaust springs and pistons but those should be tuned to .004 intake and .005 exhaust. Its called a rocker arm its what the camshaft hits. This is where timing comes into play too. I hope this helps a bit?

I had a crack in the intake going to the motor from the carburetor. then I had another bike that had to have pressure on the intake of the carburetor or it won't run right

Me too!! I have everything, compression, spark, fuel, even tried starting fluid. I do have a decent battery though. My multi meter read the battery at 13.2 volts. I don't have a battery charger or a jump starter😢😢😢. Will jump it with my car tomorrow.

I have a 2012 ToaToa 50 scooter that was sitting for over a year at a friends house. He gave it to me, and after cleaning the carb, charging the electric start, and a few other things I got to turn on and ride. Two days later, no matter how much I charge the battery it will not turn on, it sounds exactly like how the guy in this video bike sounded when he tried to turn his on. I could feel the muffler blowing little puffs of air out when I use the electric start and we’ve even put starter fluid in the intake. What is a good battery that will put out a lot of power? The current one I have is a XTRRME XTAX7A-BS 12V 6AH but I think it’s bad.

So what was the problem with your bike you started it up I couldn't hear you talk. I'm having trouble with my TaoTao 50 it was running great the next day I went out. And tried to start it and I realized the drainage tube was off but that wasn't the problem. It's a new carburetor I replaced all the tubing I have gas going to the spark plug I stuck my finger in there. Change my CD I box and it still won't start. So today I'm going out to change my Bendix gear. That was always the problem on my two old bikes. So are you saying I need to get a lithium battery I saw someone mention that ?

It's probably the Bendix gear at what's happened to last two bikes. So I'm going to take it off tomorrow I got two spares. And if I need I can change my belt too and my rollers, I figure if that's not it I'm going to have to take the engine apart and reset my valves

Hi, my problem was that the battery wasn't spinning the engine over fast enough to generate a strong spark to start it. I jumped the scooter off using jumper cables and it fired right up. I eventually bought a powerful battery. If you have a jump box or can jump it off with your vehicle, the scooter will most likely start up.

The diaphram that some call the fuel pump, your fuel line comes from the tank into it..well it's a cheap summer inside,if gas sirs it stagnates,that damages plastic and rubber parts,like this diaphram,replace it and the gas filrer,then drain your tank completely, scooters are a bit like cars,they have a reserve area ,gunk from old gas clings there and putting new gas in breaks it up and right back into your filter and carb ,,clear it all replace your spark plug and your on the road bro

I had this same issue so I had to tear the engine up and found scoring in the piston then replace the block, piston and rings It starts like new. your engine spins so your problem is compression.

Hi Chet, I don't think anything was wrong with the first new carb. My problem was a spark issue. The starter wasn't spinning fast enough to start the scooter. I installed a new battery like the original it came with and now it starts every time. Thanks for watching!

Those blue racing CDI units have an advanced timing curve that causes hard starting. Could be part of your problem. Have you tried to kick start it?

So I’m having problems now but when I kick start it the headlight flicks on and back off in a sec the turn signals and stuff still work and the break lights for when I try e start do you think a new battery would help that or it won’t turn on but compression is good brand new just out the box spark plug you think it can still be the battery or something else ?

Yes it should, the problem is that this is a low compression engine and you can't spin it that fast with the kicker. Btw. You should check your choke first (the thing with the two cable which sits on the side of the carb).

I'm not getting any gas to my spark plug at all I replaced the battery and spark plug did oil change but I'm not getting gas to the spark plug and ive been trying for 5 days straight now

Sorry for the late response. Did you get the scooter started? If not, you should remove the spark plug and pour a little gas inside the hole, replace the plug and try to start it to see if it starts up? This will give you a clear indicator that you have a carb issue. Maybe the jets are clogged. Let me know.

@@TerenceDIY I have tried that and it cranks over but the only way it starts up is by spraying starter fluid directly into the carb and even then it starts for only a few seconds and then dies I've replaced both the battery and spark plug and made sure all the lines are clear

All these chinese scooter engines are alot compatible to other chinese scooters. ...sometimes a little valve adjustment is needed. These small valves go through alot of stress and load, so checking your valves real quik doesnt hurt to check. ...heres a quick check TIP: OPEN VALVE COVER WHILE ENGINE OFF & COLD. TURN fly wheel to TDC/ top dead center points till the piston is at TDC., then shake the top rockers to see if they are loose. If so just loosen that rocker arm bolt just a bit, and tighten the screw just enough so it stops the rattle on the rocker arm then tighten the bolt. If u have filler gauge even better because over time the cam lobes wear out 0.001 " so u must adjust & tighten them again over time. Do this every 100- 200 miles. This is where most chinese scooters lose power, The valves stay stuck open and dont close or open all the way so it bogs out if u try to gun the throttle. Try this before u go spending money on parts if your chinese scooter turns off at idle or hard to start....in most cases this is the colprate...give it a try yall.

You should never leave a battery charger plugged into the battery after it has started the scooter. It ruins the battery ...its bad enough you are using a high amparage battery charger. ..these batteries uses a charger no more than 2 amps. Even a 4 or 6 amp charger does the work but at the same time its shortning the small battery's life...these small scooter/atv batterries need a specific amparage to properly charge...charging it too fast on a higher amparage kills the electroids that keep the battery charged and makes it harder for the battery to charge and take longer in the next power drain.

A powerwheel toy car has these chargers.

I have a manco hornet, I've charged my battery. Even hooked a charger up to it to try jump starting it. It started a few weeks ago with me just charging the battery but now it doesn't want to start at all. It sounds like it is turning over but like there isnt enough power to start it. My chinese moped is a glide 49cc qmb139 motor I have power to everything but my cdi and coil. Brand new motor brand new carb brand new coil solenoid and cdi everything high performance. Got any idea why no power to cdi and coil to spark plug

Hi Robert, have you did a thorough inspection of your wiring? That's weird not to have power to the cdi. However, I had a moped with less than 50 miles with no spark. Although the motor was basically new, the timing was off. I had to use a feeler gauge to correct it.

@@TerenceDIY ty I finally found it out my new carb had a yellow and green wire to the connector but when they were connected they were opposite of each other and cdi box one wire was not in right place for new cdi box. Now I have to find a website that sells body panels for my moped. A redstreak glide eyas50 and have had no luck previous owner did not take care of it. But it will do well over 50mph now. I tweaked some things I learn fast just not good with people

This is happening to me but I just bought a brand new carb, ignition, electric choke, battery, and coil. and all are the exact parts for my bike. I have a 2000 Eton beamer 2 stroke. Anybody have any ideas?

@@TerenceDIY yea it didn't work with the old or brand new battery made for the bike. I don't think we've tried jumping it but we have a 40 amp car fuze in it so I don't think that would be a good.idea

I bet that's the problem I got. I just installed my motor I upgraded to 80cc. it ran one time after installing but now will not fire up. there is gas. fire and compression. got it on charge now hoping this does the trick. I am tired now resting and will let battery charge. wish me luck. I. lol post if it works.

Hi Mikey Hays, my fingers are crossed! If it doesn't start with the battery by itself, try leaving your charger attached to it as you start it or connect some jumper cables to a bigger battery. I'm almost positive it will start. Good luck. Thanks for watching!

Yep. The small battery I was using was not strong enough. The engine needs to spin over pretty quickly to generate enough spark to start the engine.

Now i checked the Carburater its good, i changed spark plug i have spark, Then i put petrol on the Spark plug then it starts and runs without stopping. If i stop the engine i can start it again untill its get cold again! But when the engine was running i pushed the motor to left side then the rpm increased when i pushed to righ side it wanted to stop. The battery which is in is quiet small any idea?

I got the same problem like this also But I didn’t try it yet Do i.? My scooter is 50cc Boom..since (similarly with Taotwo )I bought this two months ago.. I’m doing gig job with my scooter.. until today.. the scooter won’t start. @@basilflournoy5334 did you get it started? if not, I would try to jump it as well. If you get it to spin over quickly, I am almost positive it will start. The key is to get it to spin as quick as you can to generate a strong spark.

@@brianboyd8882 NO, if it turns, gets spark, gets fuel but started with bigger amps that means the motor needed to spin faster. If it needed to spin faster to start then that is a compression issue.

Thank you for this video, this solved my problem also. I always tried to jump off my charger but it only put out 12amps. Tried my father in laws and it started right up on 50amps. Chinese atv 110cc

My 2008 tomos nitro 50cc I just put a new carb. On it a new coil battery is good compression good and the plug is sparking welland just today I put a new blue racing CDI on it and it ran a couple hours then I turned it off and an hour later it didn't start and hasn't since, would you happen to know what is the cause, and how I could fix it

@Monica Ownby sadly I don't. The bike later stopped working with this solution and was a gift and very worn at the time. Sorry, I literally trashed the whole unit. I was planning on changing the whole motor for a larger cc as I went through everything. It's a damn mystery and I trashed it because it was out grown before I could make it reliable.
