Mistake that you made is that you didn't broke vacuum in the jar - you didn't allow air to get to behind the water. I would cut the bottom of the jar.

I don't know if you'll see this after 3 years, but my first thought is to use a centrifuge to separate the chlorella from the water solution and then pour the water back into the culture and allow what remains to desiccate. Seeing how it settles out of the solution if left undisturbed makes me think this should be a pretty easy process.

I'm more interested in trying to grow chlorella because of the vitamin B12 analogue issue with spirulina. I'm wondering if the grow medium is too gross to just drink it? Did you try it by chance? Thanks for the videos this is helping a ton!

Could you just drink the solution? Or does it have to be filtered out to be harvested and ingested?

I haven't. I was considering common household goods to try and separate.

What about centrifuge ? Chlorella has higher fat contents than spirulina so it might be worth the extra effort

I went with Spirulina Maxima (50 Micron) over Platensis (20 micron) or (Chlorella 5 micron) the ladder was a PITA to filter.

nice! ya I feel like even if I got a different filter, I'm still going to run into the issue of breaking the cell wall. I'll probably come back to Chlorella some day...

@@bluegrownlife9917 alot of companies have to either do electrolysis/top skimming or use an expensive centrifuge to extract the water for that very reason. The cell wall is sort of a hinderance anyways to getting the contents inside.
