Chlorella grown outdoors is full of heavy metals. She always mentions that her chlorella is grown with tripled filtered spring water which is great but conveniently doesn't mention all the contaminates that fall out of the sky into the ponds while it's being grown. Her product (Recovery Bits) is actually priced almost 3 times as much as other companies that buy their bulk chlorella from the same exact company in Taiwan that grows it outdoors. She doesn't actually own the chlorella factory. She just uses his company to source her ingredient. The cost for a bag of her 'Recovery Bits' is $130 for 1000 tablets. This is completely insane! For comparison, I get 2200 tablets for only $54 of the cleanest chlorella that comes from a factory in Korea where it's grown indoors under tightly controlled conditions.

Thank you for the great information! I know that this information is about people, but I have to tell you about my dog Zoey. She is an American bull dog and in May of 2021 she was diagnosed with lymphoma. Her Veterinarian gave her about two months to live. Her lymph nodes in her neck were very large. I didn't have the money for chemo or anything else. I had been researching sparkling for myself. I read about all of the good things that spirilina could do including slow down or stop cancer. So I bought spirilina in powder form and I started putting it in her food every day. Zoey is still alive and doing good today. Its been over 2 years since she was diagnosed. Spirilina hasn't stopped the cancer, but i believe it has slowed it down significantly. I believe spiralina is a big part of why she is still here today.

I’m neurodiverse with diagnosed ADHD and suspected ASD - I’m highly allergic to spirulina, and I’m surprised it’s used so commonly such as can even be added to candy for green colouring. My reaction is that I vomit non-stop for 12-18 hours, and it’s life threatening. I’m a very healthy person diet wise so I don’t believe what one person told me that I was ‘toxic’ and I was detoxing, this is not the case. I have detoxed many times, and also had spirulina reactions many times, completely different. Spirulina needs to be researched. I find it really interesting someone else with autism has had a bad reaction although different.

I was excited while listening to this video about energy bits and spirulina. However when I went to their website I was saddened by the price. I can't afford what they want. I know some will say you can't afford to be without them. The reality is when you're on a meager fixed income you have to make choices on what you can buy or not buy. Maybe in a few years the price will be more affordable when the newness of these wears off or more competition gets in onthis new fad. Until then I will continue to eat sprouts.😊

I’ve had spirulina powder from Food Coop in Lexington, KY. I love the taste of spirulina. I tried it as a thickener making gravy. If you can get past the color of the gravy, I loved the flavor and texture, velvety smooth. Along with my parents upbringing, thryt started my being healthy at an early age! My parents are still in good health because of it. I look younger than all of my classmates, friends etc. I don't do any of the Religion stuff though. I'm spiritually self employed. I've experimented and researched and educated myself on super foods supplements herbs and other healing modalities. When it comes to meat the body types and races vary. One size does not fit all and you still have to keep in mind, the agendas are about making MONEY... Find what works best for you. Especially if you're mixed race. I love Spirulina and Chlorella. Pasture Raised Eggs Lamb Beef Turkey Mahi Mahi Salmon other fatty fish. Some of my sources of fat and protein. I stay away from Pork although I do enjoy a few pieces of bacon once or twice a month. I've seen many trends, they come and they go and the band-wagoners in search of magic bullets for weight loss and managing health issues go with the latest fads and would be cure alls. Only to slide back into old habits.

I apologise the markups are not 90% but only 89%. The Vitamin and supplements industry needs a complete revamp, control, and coherent review throughout North America. I take a small amount of Moringa, Spirulina, Maca, Ashwanghanda, and cinnamon daily with my honey and two lemons. Then, I turmeric with raw chocolate, pepper, chia seeds, hemp seeds, and flax seeds. Life goes on without any grey hair yet at 66. Perhaps my monthly 2 litres of olive oil.

Spirulina can live in ponds up to 116° ....spray dried in drums have all of there enzymes intact after drying. Most spirulina is processed this way and are juat as alive as freeze dried. Had a room mate that bought some earthrise powder spirulina that miss placed it in the tip top cabinet in the kitchen in the way back. Expiration date was over 20 years old, it had gone thru 95° to 100° days of at least 30 of those a year since my house is kinda poorly insulated in the east bay of northern California. Made a smoothie with a heaping tsp, got that brain rush that good spirulina can do. Spray dried spirulina is a archival food, i would put it past the wheat berries found in the pyramids of giza, that some could be sprouted into a plant today. For extremes of survival. I have no doubt that that powder thrown into a body of water, give it some bicarbonates would spring into life. Yeah if you are a vegetarian the algaes would be a life saver.

I noticed that she said eating one pill was equal in nutritional value to a whole plate of vegetables. But this couldn't be true because whole raw or steamed vegetables contain both soluable and insouable fiber, which although not vitamins, are great for colon cancer prevention, digestion, helps us go poo, and being an emulsifier, essential for mopping up bad cholesterol in the blood. As for the way it's harvested, I only know that anything grown in China is full of arsenic, lead, and a host of other nasty chemicals used in their factories and literally disposed of in their rivers and lakes. This is especially true of rice grown in China, it absorbs these chemicals like a spinge. I only use rice grown in California, but the FDA analysis found that any rice grown in the USA is by far the cleanest, having only trace amounts. Well she makes the spirulina sound like its really something good, She seems like she really knows her shit I think I'm adding it to my diet. But NOT 30 tablets a night!

One concern about Spirulina as a protein source to me is according to Energy Bits own labeling a serving size of 30 tablets only has 5g of protein. At ~130 USD for 900 tablets, that would run out in 30 days and for only 5g of protein daily. Even though the protein can be readily absorbed and is a complete source, this still means that it isn't practical as a replacement for other protein supplements. I've been searching for vegan protein supplements that could really fit this bill. Everything else presented seems really amazing though. Also, Dr Gundry, you've mentioned in the past that it's recommended to take 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 according to a UCSD study. 1 serving (30 tablets) on the label of Energy Bits Chlorella shows 14mcg on the website per server (10 bits?), whereas my 5000 IU D3 bottle at home has 125 mcg. I'm just trying to understand how this could really replace the supplements I have in my cabinet. Am I wrong for looking at it this way?

Many indigenous cultures relied con algae especially during war time. The Aztecs relied on spirulina they collected from water and rocks. They also ate mostly plant based. Another thing they ate are purple potatoes aka Japanese purple potatoes. Spanish Inquisition changed all of that though. At home we make spirulina or chlorella guacamole, add it to soup, add it to our sardines and anchovies, make smoothies with it etc etc. I yet to make spirulina tortas that azteca use to make along with other popular Mexican greens that support and clean your kidneys and liver. Very interesting how much we've regressed from what our ancestors knew and did. Btw spirulina is what helped me get healthy before conceiving, during pregnancy and after😊

About alkaline water and alkaline food, the fact is our blood PH (the acid/alkaline balance) never changes from 7.2 no matter how much alkalinity we consume. If anyone's bood PH changes up or down even slightly, they're a dead ass mofo. HOWEVER, most of our foods are acidic, (even milk is acidic 4.2) so consuming alkaline water and foods would seem to be a great assistance to the body's regulation of this balance. I'm no expert but it certainly makes sense.

If I understand correctly when adding both algae to your diet in sufficient quantities you can stop taking other supplements such as fish oil ( omega 3 ) , glutathione and Q10 for instance. I would like to know if there are any conter indications in case of a thyroid problem .

These two algae contain virtually NO OMEGA-3!!! You need to look at Ocean derived algae - Nannochloroposis gaditana contains Omega-3 ALA/EPA/DHA/DPA within a cell-ready phospholipid matrix. Ocean based fish don't eat chlorella or spirulina which are FRESH WATER algae. Folks need to get educated.

Yes, I can’t take too much iron. It seems these products would not be good for me. My iron level is already too high, and my doctor stopped me from taking iron and vit c for a while.

This video seemed like one long commercial for Energybits, the product that the guest is selling. I would have preferred a conversation between Dr. Gundry and Catherine Arnston instead of her fast-talking, well-rehearsed monologue designed to indoctrinate the listener into buying her pricey products.

Some forms/formulas are more bio available than others so you could feasibly take a smaller dose of something and have a greater benefit from it. I just looked up that a tablespoon of spirulina weighs 7 grams, four of which are protein. Gram for gram it has a higher concentration of protein than any other plant or meat source.

She lost credibility with me when she made absurd statements, e.g. at 42 minutes she said: “35 to 50 percent of military veterans are committing suicide”. How can she expect me to believe other claims she makes when she seems to have no logic filter that makes her question believing such a false and ridiculous statement?
