@@onikaconstantine8861 The cake itself was wonderful. So moist and great flavor. When I redo this recipe, without the spring pans, it's going to be awesome.

Thanks Eddy. It looked funny, but it actually tasted awesome. My wife and friends were eating slivers off of it all week.

For the frosting, I would use the recipe on the back of the Hershey's cocoa can. It's the best! I'm sorry about all your trouble
@RalphKnowsCarnivore3 ай бұрын
Yeah.....that frosting was pretty bad. Like REALLY bad. I am going to have to do something better. I like your suggestion about checking out the back of the Hershey can.

For the parchment paper, turn the pan over, crinkle up the parchment paper to make it flexible, put it around the outside of the pan to measure on the outside and cut. Voila!

Yeah....my best buddy basically told me the same thing afterwards.

You're right. Baking is a totally different animal. Having to be precise in measurement and so on I still enjoyed this. Got my like. I was making chocolatel chip cookies and used the old nestle recipe . I let the butter come to room temp. Well, as you know, Texas room temp is different than Washington state room temp and the butter separated and the cookies come out like flat little hockey pucks...lol

Hey Chuck. The cake recipe was actually great, except for the frosting and the spring pans. I am going to be doing it over again shortly, but I think I will use a baking dish this time.

I'm a true chocoholic. It looked great and I'll give this a try. And the chicken breast recipe last week was great. I did use boneless skinless thighs though. I will use breasts next time. Yours looked wonderful.

Ralph, I LOVE doing cakes, but I can NOT succeed at chocolate cakes. I tried once this year for VM birthday party and it looked great but was like a lead puck to me. Hahah😂

This one actually tasted great, except for the frosting. I am going to redo this again shortly, but I think I'll use a baking dish instead. The burnt batter at the bottom of the oven was a real pain. lol The cake itself though, was super moist.

LOL "cake happens" (maybe not) LMAO Good try Ralph! certainly with a normal cake pan it'll turn out right
@RalphKnowsCarnivore3 ай бұрын
Thanks Bruce. The recipe itself, accept for the frosting, was actually pretty great. Even funny looking, my wife cut little pieces of it to eat all week long. I am going to be doing this again shortly, but with a baking dish instead of the spring pans.
@LillieLong4 ай бұрын
You used a springform pan? Oh dear! Maybe it will taste good!
@RalphKnowsCarnivore3 ай бұрын
It actually tasted phenomenal. It looked odd, being so thin, and I had to clean all the burnt batter off the bottom of my oven. However, my wife ate little pieces of it all week long. I'm going to repeat this shortly, but I have to do a couple of other recipes first. It was kind of funny though.

My stomach hurts from laughing so much! I used spring pans the second time I made this cake too. With the EXACT same results! 😫 I was born and bread in the states you’d think I’d remember we don’t use the metric system at home! 🤷🏼♂️ the cake batter: full cream milk in Australia is VITAMIN D milk at home, and not whipping cream. I didn’t notice if you used 10 mils of vanilla? Or 2 tsp of vanilla. I’ll send the conversion to imperial measurements in this post at the end of this. FROSTING: Use whipping cream in frosting, and not the batter. You use coco in the batter, not the frosting. You should or could use chocolate chips. I mix them semi sweet, dark chocolate chips, or you can use a chocolate candy bar. Like Hersey or along that line. Basically it’s chocolate chips and whipping cream. If you let the frosting completely cool off. (I usually put it in the fridge for an hour or two, and it thickens up) Then use your egg mixer to fluff the frosting up. Then it has a consistency of a buttercream frosting. I have been making cupcakes with this cake mix. I just sent two dozen cupcakes to my daughter and grandkids. Instead of the chocolate ganache frosting I just made buttercream and flavoured some of them with banana frosting with banana flavouring. I forgot to mention this cake freezes VERY WELL TOO. put in the freezer until covered until the outside firms up then wrap it in cling wrap. Cupcakes put in a covered container, and DO NOT FROST THEM until you’re going to serve them. The frosting doesn’t freeze well. At least according to my wifey. It’s an easy cake to make. Just mix everything together except the boiling hot water. Then add the hot water by fourths. Throw in the oven and it’s easy as. Really sorry I didn’t mention the spring pan thingy. CONVERSIONS 225g flour- about 1 cup 350g fine sugar- about 1 1/2 cups 85g coco powder- almost half between 3/4 and 1 cup 7.5 mil baking powder- 1 1/2 tsp 7.5 mil baking soda- 1 1/2 Tsp 2 eggs- 2 eggs duh! 250 mils milk- 1 cup of vitamin D milk, not 1%, 2%, or Skimmed ect ect. 125 mils sunflower oil- 1/2 cup 10 mils vanilla - 2 tsp 250mils BOILING water- 1 cup Just add everything except the BOILING WATER mix well Then add the BOILING WATER 1/4 cup at a time. Chocolate Ganache FROSTING: 200g dark chocolate/milk chocolate I use chocolate chips both dark and semi sweet, or a chocolate candy bar.- 7 ounces 175 mils cream- about 3/4 of a cup. That’s whipping cream/heavy cream. Not cool whip cream! Hope this helps. Next time hopefully it goes better brother! I’m happy you tried it at least.

@@paulredinger5830 I think I tried this recipe once. I screwed it up if i remember correctly. I remember the boiling water
@RalphKnowsCarnivore3 ай бұрын
I was really looking forward to doing this cake, and then I screwed it up. It was kind of funny though. I think I came close with the recipe, and I had to look up what the sugar was and then find it at the store. When my wife came home, she asked me where the second layer was. I had to point out that she was looking at both layers stacked on top of each other. lol The cake itself tasted amazing. Super moist. My wife ate little pieces of it all week long. When I do it again, I think I will still use the heavy whipping cream. The taste and texture kind of reminded me of a Hostess cream filled cupcake. I plan on doing it again soon, minus the spring pans, but I have a couple of other recipes I need to do first. I told you about the second channel I'm launching. I uploaded everything on Friday. I am going to announce it on the cooking channel this Tuesday. In case you want check it out before the announcement, the name of the channel is Ralph Knows Carnivore. It seems to be taking off.
@paulredinger58303 ай бұрын
@@RalphKnowsCarnivore I definitely will check out the new channel. The batter uses caster sugar, which is normal sugar just finer granules. Using vitamin d milk will not change the flavour or moisture of the cake. I have been making cupcakes with this recipe and they’re really good. I vary the frosting flavor. I haven’t tried strawberry frosting yet, but that’s the next one. I usually do a couple different flavours. The use food jell to Color. Yellow- banana ect ect.
@paulredinger58303 ай бұрын
@@LillieLong I’ve done that too. I’ve not mixed it good enough either. My stand mixer is bargain basement., but better than nothing. Cupcakes are the easiest I find. Once you learn it this cake will be your go to. Quick, easy, and delicious! Try banana buttercream frosting, or anything that goes with chocolate.
