Many years ago I told my high school boyfriend I’d make him a chocolate layer cake and for whatever reason, it didn’t rise very well so my mom told me to make two more layers which of course also didn’t rise so then she said ‘I’ve got it, we’ll call it a torte!’ so that’s just what we did haha….and none of us knew what a torte was but it made us laugh and r.i.p. Mom.
