Anyone who played FFVII knew that Zack was going to die. But I don't think you see how much he had to go through. I do remember seeing him get shot in FFVII though before he died. Zack is a great character, but after playing FFVII, there's no way you'd get a happy ending with Crisis Core. But I do wish he didn't die...

The hardest part is seeing everything from Zack's point of view; being riddled with bullets and too exhausted from the struggle to stop it. It's horrible to see your own death coming at you like that. Every time I watch this, the phrase "the grey killing floor of hell" pops into my mind. I think it's from Killer Angels or something.

Zack took out 1000 shinra soldiers.He was the greatest hero of his time.

he doesn't just die from a bullet. it was hundreds of men, missiles from helicopters, and bullets at all angles. this was after he kills all but 3 guys + 1 helicopter.

He didn't die because his DMW activated one last time and it was Aerith's which heals him a little thats why we hear more shots right after.

Some are, some aren't. Most of the higher-ups are evil, except Reeve. The army just follows orders. They were probably told Zack was a traitor, and most SOLDIERs are decent people.

@goodmuzic101 Nah I don't think so because I remember Kunsel saying that he would leave shinra to help his friend and Kunsel uses a sword. Plus Kunsel wouldn't kill zack let alone shoot him in the head.

In the army's defense...he DID go thru at least a hundred or so soldiers before being taken down. If you were a grunt and he was finally cornered, you'd probably unload your entire clip on him too just to make sure he didn't take off your head w/his Buster Sword. The last shot (while he was down) was, however, unnecessary I think.

they had to end it like this so it could plot weave into Final Fantasy 7. in the game Zack dies as from there Cloud heads to Midgar to join Avalanche and the rest is all history

OK...let the fangirls/fanboys be! Getting emotionally involved in a game is no different than getting emotionally involved in a movie or book...that's what distinguishes the great ones from the average and the ones that just downright suck. Fancying a celebrity (who's also just pixels on your TV or paper in your mag or on your poster) that you'll NEVER see in person or get to know (and DEFINITELY will never screw) is also no different than fancying a VG character. Haha, I was saying the same thing too... after I finished Crisis Core I started a new game on FFVII the next day. I ended up fighting the soldiers that pursue Cloud before the train too, saying in my head: "Maybe I'll get lucky and get the bastard who had to shoot Zack...". x_x

Excellent scene. I miss the old commander suits that we saw in the original FFVII. They were more nazi-style = evil. Having a commander be defined by a small red garment is not nearly as cool.

yo... the screen is fooling u, 3 left... + an helicopter, zack was tired, he barely could hang on his sword... will free to make an hipifany, because if i was in his skin, i would died on the moment i started the fight, cause this is a game and it if was real a million vs 1 is kinda lol xD, + he would died anyways, if he killed the 3 of them, with the injuries he would need a place to stay, like he was miles from home, the reenforcements of shinra would apear right the moment he escaped

When Cloud and party go to Costa del Sol right after fighting with Jenova for the 1st time they meet hojo on the beach ..... instead they just talk to him and let him sit there suntanning !!! they should have fricking killed hojo then and there and been done with all that shinra crap at least then he could'nt do any more expirments or stuff on people rite?
