Choctaw nation should be very proud of their community, we grow up with stories on how our native friends reached into their own pockets during our suffering and we are forever grateful and thankful x 💚🍀

Very generous of the Indians to help the Irish who were involved in stealing their land and then settling on their stolen land. Many Irish form part of this story - and not always in positive ways. Patrick Edward Connor from Co Kerry, a Union general during the civil war, played a central role in the assault on the Native American community. He masterminded the infamous Bear River Massacre of 1863, when hundreds of Shoshone villagers were killed in retaliation for a series of raids by the tribe. General Philip Sheridan, whose parents had emigrated to the US from Co Cavan, led attacks against the Cheyenne, Kiowa and Comanche tribes across the Great Plains. He is widely credited with coining the phrase: "The only good Indians I ever saw were dead,

@@gallowglass2630 Whos land do you think Irish immigrants were planted on, it was previously owned by native american indians. Irish immigrants were involved in violent the removal of native american indians and settling on their land, historical fact.

Those were men in power who did that. We should never let a few men of power define a whole nation. And I highly doubt they were in that position because the irish as a whole wanted that. The natives helped people who were suffering much like them and showed great love for them, and the best part is that those people never forgot. Sometimes, I feel bitterness and hate and subconsciously generalize a group in my head, but I have to remind myself not to cause that kind of thinking is what keeps us divided. We should never forget history, but we must not use it for blame, especially when directed at the wrong people. We should only be concerned about the people today who use history to idolize these awful people and those who spread misinformation to create hate.
