Well done thanks. We love the area and have ridden the bike trail from Breckinridge thru Heaton Bay campground back thru keystone. Definitely have on list for next summer. Like the fact you can reserve on Rec.gov and a real bargain with Senior Lifertime pass.

Hey Brian, just seen your comment. Heaton Bay Campground is awesome, but we are going to try Pine Cove next time. It has the best kayaking access.

Hi Darin, I camped at Pine Cove this past weekend, only Saturday night. I got into site #4 which faces the lake. I happened to arrive just when the previous people were leaving, and the host was at that site on his golf cart talking to them. I suppose I was lucky, as there was no other site open at that time. I've never had that good of lake access to a campsite before. I had kayaked across the lake over to Heaton Bay, and around the islands to the east. It was awesome. You should try Pine Cove sometime.

We want to try Pine Cove next time we go to Dillon. Seems like a lot of activity there, but I guess for that lake access I could put up with it. I would like to go on the week days if I can finagle it. My wife has already started back to school so It will be next year before we can try to go.

Yep, everybody was on top of each other, but lake access was well worth staying there. My neighbors were very friendly and polite. BTW, the lakeshore perimeter bike trail goes thru the middle of the campground. If you do mountain biking, or even hiking for that matter, that might interest you because you don't have to drive to get there. I saw quite a few bikes on that trail while I was kayaking beyond the campground..

I'm editing our Heaton Bay Campground tour this week. We stopped there a few days before your video came out on our way to go camping at Redstone.

I will look forward to seeing it. We think Heaton Bay is the best campground in the Dillon area.

I tried to get a site there with electric and was one day late and they were all gone... I was wondering what you feedback on having a generator there is.... I didnt see any rules....

Yes, generators are allowed. We don't even try to get an electric site. Good luck.

Hello , Can you explain the reservations at Heaton Bay ? We are in Illinois and want to book May 29 -31 2021 . I noticed May 14 was the earliest the campground said it was open. So do you back up 6 months exactly from May 14 and then folks can book for the May 14 to Oct dates ? It wasn't clear if they released blocks or not . Thanks for any info or experience you have with this . We really enjoyed your video !

For May 29th you can reserve November 29th. They will release the following dates 30th and 31st dates every 24 hours. So if you want to reserve all 3 nights at once you will have to do it November 31st. That is a competitive campground for reservations, especially on weekends. Some people will make their reservations each day and hope they can get all the dates reserved for one spot. It is an awesome place to play, a Colorado favorite.
