Choosing and Using Raised-Panel Router Bits for Cabinet Doors

Amazon stuff from Chinese sellers takes weeks to arrive. They ship it from China and it takes an eternity to get here. What I liked about the infinity website were the pictures of actual wood with the cut of the bit (VERY HARD TO FIND ON OTHER SITES), pictures showing the measurements of the bits, and even videos of them using the bits. It's very clear what you're getting and makes it easy to narrow down what bit you need to buy. With a site like that, I think people's perception is that the quality of the bits will be good as well. I bought some $200 worth of stuff and it's on it's way now, so we'll see.

I think the 90-502 might work. I think I would have to replace the bearing with a larger one since the raised shoulder I want to duplicate is 7/8" wide. I wanted to attach 2 photos but I don't see where I can do that here.... any thoughts for me? Thanks.. Tom

New to this. I bought some panel door bits on ebay from china, really cheap set of 3. The stiles and rails don't marry up well, guess I shouldn't be surprised

Does Infinity make a straight raised panel cutter with a bearing so I can raise the panel on a curve? I would like a 1/2" shank that can make a 7/8" wide raised portion with a 1/8" shoulder. I will not be inserting this raised panel into a frame. Thanks.. Tom

Hi Tom, If I understand what your thinking, our standard raised panel cutter 90-502 might do the trick. You would either need to use your fence to limit the cut or swap out the bearing. Have a look here. www.infinitytools.com/raised-panel-router-bit-horizontal-5434

How would you use the panel bit with back cutter on a cathedral top door? The only way I see that happening is with a starting pin and using the larger bearing for the first pass and the smaller bearing for the second pass. I just purchased the Frame and Panel Master with cathedral top templates.

This is a fair investment, only router table and a router, plus bits and you are making doors, a shaper good but costly investment to begin with, this much relevant, I thank you idea taken.

One thing I think you're forgetting - slow down the router with the larger bits. I think it would be really great if someone could make a video of exactly what happens when the large bits are being used at 22,000-26,000 rpms.

Using a Triton router w lift? I was told by Triton that a lift isn't compatible with my TRA-001. What model Triton are you using?

Hi, the Triton router is it's own lift, or the lift mechanism is built into the router itself so no additional lift is needed. We are using the TRA-001 3-1/4hp router in our table. The smaller MOF-001 router functions exactly the same way.

The first edition of the TRA-001 released in Australia didn't have the provision for table access to the lift. You have to reach in underneath. Subsequent editions added it, but there are a lot of older first editions floating about, esp in Australia.
