I get what she means about it not being a real job. I think it's about independence and and standing on your own feet. But you gotta outgrow that mindset because in 2019 we're building legacies and keeping money in our own pockets. Better to be paid by mom than to let that money go to a stranger.
@mskss9411

Yes! Building Legacies. This should be our mindset. I met a man on the plane the other day. We did the small talk. Then he mentioned he has a farm passed down from 3 generations that he and his family runs and own...producing soybeans and hogs. We need to have that mindset. Its a real job. It could be your family's legacy

Interesting Ms KSS, life was like that about a few hundred years ago before school was mainstream, but I get her. Working for mommy sometimes just doesn't feel like work.

You're both absolutely STUNNING!! Love this video because I've been deciding between sisterlocs and traditional locs for about 5 years now. Watching the gorgeousness of you both is making it harder to decide! As a youngest kid, I totally get what Safiyah's saying about the difference between working for mommy vs. working for yourself or someone else. It's tough to feel like you're gaining independence and moving toward adulthood in that situation. Won't lie, though, for $15 an hour I'd make it work at her age!

Beautiful Safiyah, wow!! Welcome to the loc club!!! Lol. Initially I was torn between sister locs and traditional locs when I first started and I chose traditional locs. And I'm sooo happy that I did. It's been 3 years and they are beautiful. I have about 170 small-medium locs and it only takes me about 45 minutes to retwist my roots, no clips!!, I personally don't retwist the shaft of my hair, mainly because I didn't even know that was a thing lol.. also no interlocking for me. Just quick and simple... easy peezy!!! I love that part, because I maintain my hair myself always, ever since going to a professional to start them for me.. now they are neat, healthy, thick, and glorious. My beautiful lion's mane lol. 💞😉 Your mom is such a beautiful light and so are you 🌻 many blessings on your loc journey.

My mom (RIH) was a teacher, and I used to help her tutor and do other things after school. When it comes to working for a mother, they tend to be more lenient than a real boss. Because of that it doesn't seem that you are working for your mom.

Girl you cannot stand no cotton in locs!!! 😭😭😭... I always wanted pretty thick locs ( I want no questions that my hair is loced) but unfortunately my hair is pretty fine so it just isn’t possible... I just had to got with pencil size traditional locs... ☹️... It’s all good tho! No shade I always thought sister locs look like yarn... and wit how thin my hair is some sister locs would look crazy as hell! I’ve heard I’m a “hippie” and “earthy” as well and I don’t understand why but 🤷🏾‍♀️.

Hello there, I cut off my traditional lox’s about 2yrs ago bc I found they were thinning. My hair has been cut down to two inches, and color has been added. Yep now I want my locs back via Sisterlocs :-) Is it ok to cut out the color (burnt tan kissed hard by the sun) Working with 8 inches natural hair now. It’s 4CDEF lol serious happy kinky stuff lol older with hint of grey. Any suggestions will be helpful for preparing it for the journey. Looking to do so by the end of the year :-) I mainly ask bc no one ever addresses cutting in style b4 locking or after locking. is this an issue? Q2- Is the size of Sisterlocs much diff from traditional locs/micro locs?
@TunisiaAli
@TunisiaAli 5 жыл бұрын
I think it would be great to have color, unless you just really want to cut it out. As fat as I know, the recommendation is to get the color on the front end. Size wise, the sisterlocks are definitely smaller than traditional locs but compsrento microlocs depending on the preference and specifics of the install. I hope this helps. Enjoy the journey back to locs! Yay!

I have fine strands too and interlocking doesn’t work for me bc it compacts my hair too much. I don’t even palm roll. I just twirl the roots. Tell her to check my channel.

Personally i feel there are sisterlocks, brotherlocs, traditional locs and dreads. I use to have traditional locs. Kept traditional loc are also cultivated locs so are sisterlocks. However, when individuals allow their locs to go wild.. Those are hideous..."dreads" as the dictionary says...dreads= hideous, distasteful. Just my opinion
