Hey Paul freaking awesome job. You have no clue how helpful and inspiring your videos are. I hope one day to just have a fraction of your repertoire. Congratulations Ps the last two time stamps. (23,24) are wrong.

Have you thought about entering the international Chopin competition?

Nope, it never crossed my mind. I've only wanted to play piano for pleasure.

I think you should change the op 25 timestamps from 13-24 to 1-12, since you have already labeled the nouvelle etudes as 1,2,3 instead of 25,26,27.
@NumberonesorabjifanАй бұрын
Also the timestamps for nos. 23 and 24 seem to be wrong.
@PaulBartonPianoАй бұрын
@Numberonesorabjifan ... thanks, have changed them as you suggested 1-12.
Interesting. I had never even heard of the Nouvelle Etudes before and man, they aren't very good at all. Honestly, I wouldn't even believe they were Chopin works unless someone showed me the score. The fact that they were written a few years after both sets of masterpieces makes it all the more interesting: Uninspired, flatly pedogodic pieces. I guess even as a great composer, as with all other professions, some days you're inspired and other days, you just show up for work.
@rywilkАй бұрын
He wrote them merely as exercises for a piano instruction book; they were never meant to be at the same level as his published etudes.

@prepcoin_nl4362 If I had to recommend just one Chopin étude for developing piano technique, it would be Nouvelle Etude No.3, It's incredibly helpful for building finger independence and voicing.
@prepcoin_nl4362Ай бұрын
@@rywilk Yes, that is clear. I didn't know it explicitly but you can tell just by listening to them. My point was even the greatest of the greats just show up to work sometimes. No disrespect to the man for trying to make money. If anything, it's inspiring.

Did you reupload to fix the wrong key signature in the wrong note etude? 😂
@PaulBartonPianoАй бұрын
@contra31, Yes. It wasn't until I read your comment (maybe?) under the last upload about the key change on 25/5 that it clicked as to why I found the sound funny when I was making the audio. I dropped the video of 25/5 into Logic and somehow the sample rate of the audio changed and didn't match the project I was working with, i.e., 48000 vs 44.1 kHz. After reading the comment, I listened to a bit of my 25/5 video, went over to the piano, and discovered it was a whole third higher than it should have been due to the mismatch of the sample rates. So, I remade the video and double-checked that it didn't happen again. I'm prone to making silly mistakes, and they are becoming more frequent as I get older!
