The title of your demo is exactly right Bill. That guitar is definitely a Tone Monster!!! Mesmerizing is another word that came to mind. I can't wait to hear what you come up with on future videos using this guitar!!! I've never thought about buying a baritone guitar.........until now.

That guitar sounds amazing Bill. I actually liked the split neck/un-split bridge combination. To my ears it had a clarity to the attack, but retained some of the richness of the neck pickup. What I liked is there was no significant volume drop when the coils were split. That's not always the case with other makes. But man, that neck pickup...sweet!

Sounds and looks awesome! I wish more vintage-styled guitars looked more like this. And I can't recommend the separate coil splits enough, I have that modded on one of my 7-strings and I especially love the humbucker neck + split bridge combo for chords and fingerpicking, it's the best of both worlds.

All the tones you're producing with that beautiful D'Angelico are right up my alley and very pleasing to the ear. I may have to buy this baritone guitar. Are you playing it through an amp and cab, or through effects and into a USB audio interface?
@chordsoforion Жыл бұрын
I am using a Strymon Iridium amp modeler, along with a Strymon Compadre and Riverside. This is one of my goto "front ends" before volume pedal and time based effects.
@robst247 Жыл бұрын
@@chordsoforionOK - if I understand correctly, the Iridium and the Riverside both model tube amps with varying degrees of gain, while the Compadre compresses and boosts the signal. I was considering buying an Iridium but, instead, got the Blackstar Dept. 10 Dual Drive, which includes a 12AX7 valve and has 4 channels -- clean, two crunches and an overdrive -- plus UK/US amp modeling, EQ and cabinet simulation. Anyway, I love your baritone tones and your melodies and harmonies in this video. Hugely inspiring!

Wow, lucky you! To my ears, what you refer to as warmth in the clean sound, sounds very much like character. i haven't heard that on any of your guitars yet, nor on guitars of musicians i played with (which is not too many). It sounds like you're already running through a tube amplifier and speaker cabinet. Only thing i miss, on most of your guitars recently, is that bird flying up the neck. But for this guitar it is hardly a miss, since you get all that warmth/character in return. i'm curious and very much looking forward to your next bandcamp release with this guitar.

Curious about your preference between this and the semi-hollow baritone from the same line!
@chordsoforion4 ай бұрын
the Deluxe SS is a very different beast from this one being a semi-hollow with P-90s. Very different feel and different sound. Not sure that I have a preference, but I use them for different types of pieces. If you are only looking to own one, the Atlantic is probably more versatile.

I am looking for a new guitar, and though its double my self imposed budget, I am considering it. One question, What would it be like in “dadgad” mode ( wouldn’t be actually in dadgad but whatever), since thats what I usually play in. As long as it didn’t make it to low to sound good, I would think it would be fine.
@robst247 Жыл бұрын
The B to B equivalent of DADGAD would be BF#BEF#B. I'm sure that any baritone electric would handle that tuning well.

Nice demo of a very nice guitar, Bill. How much does this one $et back us non-YT stars? Someday, I’d like to try either a baritone or a 7-string. Any comments for someone that has never played either yet?
@chordsoforion2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary! I don't normally say prices, as they tend to change over time. Here's a link to the Sweetwater listing, which is pretty representative: imp.i114863.net/Xx71Aa. As far as commenting in general about playing a baritone, one like this feels pretty familiar, as the scale length is not super long. But be aware that all of the chord shapes and scales that you are used to are sounding a perfect 4th lower (assuming BEADF#B tuning). As far as a seven string goes, I have one, however, it is not comfortable for me to play it. I probably need to spend a ton of time with it, and that may or may not happen.
@theliberation90612 жыл бұрын
@@chordsoforion I actually wondered what happened to the 7-string! As someone who plays anything from extreme metal to ambient on 7s (and went as low as drop F for an ambient piece...) I can't recommend enough getting used to one 🙂

Hey man i absolutely love your content. I was wondering if you would have time to do a video on the gear you most prefer for your tones besides pedals. Are you using preamp pedals like your iridium only? Are you running tube amps or amp modelers like the head rush and what not. Would love to hear and see what your most preferred methods of getting the sound and tone you get and maybe your favorites on the preamps, modelers and tube amps in general to set up for a pedal platform if that makes sense. Would love to see that content. Thank you and God bless!
@chordsoforion2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joey - I've got a lot of videos that address signal chain, amp modelers and the like, but perhaps it is time for a refresh. Will give it some thought. In the meantime, I share a couple of thoughts: I have not used traditional amplifiers for probably the last 13 years. I strictly use amp modelers, and the Strymon Iridium is definitely my favorite amp modeler in pedal format. The multi-effects units that I use the most are the Line 6 Helix LT and the Headrush (either Pedalboard or MX5). Thanks!
