Tacoma Thunderhawk Baritone. They didn't make many of them before Fender bought them and torpedoed the line. I have one and it is, indeed, a magical experience to play and hear it up close and personal. One of those instruments that inspires me to approach guitar playing from a different angle. Because the body is so large, the low end is just phenomenal and rich. So deep...

RIP Tacoma. Man ...wish I had bought myself a Thunderhawk. Makes me want to write a song on my PRS 277 Semi Soap Bar Baritone ...thanks for sharing your advice on it Bill, love it. Epilogue: "After the nuclear strikes when we had gathered deep beneath the earth for safety and warmth, it was then ...that we could hear the haunting, ambient trails of the Thunderhawk".

Beautiful! The deepest string sounds killer. Some A-tuning ? I have exactly that guitar model myself with any pickup, but never managed to mic it up to sound that good. Is it the pickup into your Strymon, etc. ?

HI Bob, Can you comment on how you are capturing video and those backgrounds? What cameras, what software, etc...
@chordsoforion
@chordsoforion 7 жыл бұрын
Sure. I use a Canon T5i with the kit 18-55 lens as my main camera. I also have a GoPro Hero4 that I use for shots of pedals, feet, etc. In this particular video, I shot the background on my iPhone as I was flying back home the other week. I then shot the performance footage on the T5i in front of a green screen. Finally, I use Final Cut Pro to edit the video, key out the green screen and replace it with the cloud footage. (also, Bill's the name. :-))

Hi Bill. Beautiful meditation, as always.👍Oh, by the way, I just noticed that you joined KZbin on Sept 1st (2013). Wow! Do you know what Sept 1st is? It's the birthday of Srila Prahbupada, the sannyasi that brought Vaishnava Hinduism (the Hare Krishnas denomination) to the USA in 1965. Check him out. Why? He played the harmonium. What's so interesting about the harmonium? Well, at times, your ambient guitar sometimes sounds like a harmonium. I think Srila Prabhupada would have loved your meditations.

He's playing a different tuning than standard. That's why the chords don't look familiar. One thing I would highly recommend to a beginner is learn the theory of how chords are derived from scales. This way, you'll know that the C triad chord, for example, is comprised of the C -E -G notes. In this way, you'll some day be able to find chords all over the neck, as well as when you're using different tunings. Check out Chords Of Orion's wonderful video on the two other tunings he likes. He's a great teacher! 😊 Enjoy your playing!

@@chordsoforion Ooh, quick response. While I still got you on the hook; I might add that I checked out a Bm6c yesterday. But that one did not come with a pickup. Your videos have truly inspired me. But I backed off the deal, had to consider the 862 dollars. And then having to add a pickup with pedals ontop of that... Would you have any recommendations as for a pickup and one or two starter pedals? Thanks in advance!
@chordsoforion
@chordsoforion 5 жыл бұрын
@@erikheikinniemi5061 I don't have any specific suggestions for pickups as I have never purchased a standalone pickup. If I were to buy one for a Tacoma Thunderhawk, it would have to be an undersaddle because of the offset soundhole. If it were a more standard guitar, I would look at a combination pickup and mic. Pedals - for acoustic guitar in an "ambient" context? I would look at a delay and a reverb. Stereo for me for sure.
@erikheikinniemi5061
@erikheikinniemi5061 5 жыл бұрын
@@chordsoforion All right, so I take it as you've got an undersaddle yourself? I was just a bit bummed out, since I imagined myself just being able to connect it to my Vox AC50 and flow away. I've been checking up some of your gear, and it sure gets a slippery hill, pretty fast (money-wise). But I suppose, that I'm not in any kind of hurry. I'll consider the bm6c, and maybe I'll go visit it again during the weekend; it was pretty daunting, sitting there, playing off a baritone for the first time ever. I believe that I could need an entire weekend together with it, alongside with some beer and whisky - to fully learn how to understand her better! But yeah, from my understanding these are some rare birds. And I just don't wanna regret missing out on an opportunity... I do appreciate you taking your time with helping a novice out with his questions. ✌
