Honestly I say avoid rehab like the bubonic plague , it's a brainwashing mind control cult cash grab scam that's all it is Why do you think they make people say hello I'm John and I'm an addict or an alcoholic every time before they speak , repetition it reinforces the belief in your brain both conscious and subconscious mind , you tell a lie enough it become the truth is the theory they operate under Then they try and get you to admit your have an " incurable disease" and the only way is to give yourself up to a " higher power" and that you are " powerless" over your " addiction" and " disease" Why do you think these people go to rehab like 7 or 8 time and these facilities love repeat business/ repeat offenders A lot of psychology is used in these facilities and it's generally not for the betterment of the patient

JPD I totally get what you're saying. That's a positive way to look at these issues. But, having a long history of exposure to addiction, I have to say that more often than not, addiction follows the same patterns, over and over again. A little money, a lot of money, it's money, the addiction is running the show, their brains tell them to find the closest plug to get their fix. Their mind is telling them, tomorrow we'll get it together, right now I need a fix. And it loops. These women out here are abandoning their BABIES...Mama bears just don't do that. I stand with “alice K” 100% I am not strong. I am not a fighter. I never met my pop. My earliest memories are of making sure my mother was breathing periodically when she was passed out on a pill bender. A step father who you were much well best to hide from. Early Teenage years come and went friends of pseudo-similar background on pills,X,alcohol,gold buddies “chasing the dragon”. There is more to us survivors than “strength” It’s something In the spirit. It’s something in the know. More at wishing to spit in the face of the odd’s. More at refusing to lay down! More at knowing,truly knowing,nobody’s coming to make it all alright. How easy it would have been for us to snort those pills,to smoke that smoke. “To truly,finally...let it go.” We were the weirdos! Scarcely invited to party’s ,If at all. We knew all too well what that led to,even if we had been invited. The ones who take that trip do so with all the confidence that someone, even if just some stranger will be there to pull them out when the arms tire and it gets too deep. Those of us of a truly fucked up background,with truly no hope of someone else to pick up the slack never swim out quite that far. So in conclusion. “You made your bed Sleep in it. “

I feel bad because I have a lot of empathy and compassion for people but I understand completely others saying they don’t because I too have been personally effected because my dad is a cocaine addict, dont see him because he’s not a good person sober so drugs weren’t really what made him bad he was abusive and he’s a narcissist but I do think if he was a good person who did drugs and became bad id have more sympathy. Sometimes you can’t excuse it with a bad childhood, my brother who’s 10 years older got the worst of him because he has a different mother than I who had some issues too and so my dad had him alone on weekends. He became an amazing father despite his childhood, like so good. And my other brother and I who had some abuse not as bad are doing well. Of all 4 of us none have done drugs or been addicted to anything unless coffee counts. And we have the genes on both sides all of us. It’s sad but people make their own choices and you can’t hurt yourself by feeling bad for them (I mean giving money and stuff) sorry for the rant

I went to high school in small town Michigan, and was acquaintances with this beautiful girl named Kristy. Years later I ran into and we started hanging out, she revealed to me she was a stripper on Detroit at a place called "the green light." One day she came over to my house, made a phone call, and was acting gittery. I had my two toddlers at home, as some strange guy pulled up, she let him in and they went in my bathroom; he left and she came out all tired like and passing out. I was completely naive to heroin, and it clicked in what she was doing in my bathroom. I asked her kindly not to come over anymore because I didn't want that around my babies. I never saw her again, but I could never figure out why she was so pretty and let herself get in that position. That was until years later I was prescribed vicoten for my back problems. I hope she is ok?

She's so pretty...you can see how tired she seems tho..that's one thing I noticed about them all...they just seem so tired of it all. Thank you for helping. There's not enough people doing things for others want more ..I mean, I am a single Mom and always broke, but even I can buy a meal for someone once in a while...

I am baling my eyes out while watching this Poor beautiful soul all she ever did was suffer her whole life.
