Love the MK1 Escort. As a seven year old kid I remember going with my Dad to pick his brand new Escort up from the showroom in 1974. He let me have the day off from school to go with him as he knew I loved cars. He kept it for two years, them put it in for a brand new P reg MK2 Escort from the same dealer. Happy days. I had a 1969 twin cam years ago loved driving it. Very low geared 85 in top max. No good on motorways. But quick on A and B roads I love this build but I do prefer the standard twin cam without the big arches. The best escort in my opinion is the Murray escort by Retropower.

The surge in interest and demand for classic Fords is astonishing. I’ve been a devoted fan since 1969 and still am now. I had a lovely bubble arch escort as my second car (back in 1972) modded from a 1300 GT with the six dial dash, with a 1600 cross flow lump on downdraught Weber. Great looking but not too quick. Sold that for my first of six Capris, as the girlfriend found them “more comfortable” …😊😁

American , never seen one of these . I see the charm in these . Looks tidy in the engine bay , love the wheels . Like to know what it weighs . 195 is healthy for a small car , not terrible sound for 4 cyl and kind of rowdy sounding . Very clean all around, I cant understand the English but I believe like they were talking about lack of seat belts or only lap belts, at least the seats are high , looks like fun to wind up on back roads . Yeah , very nice, alien to me but very nice.

Mk1 Escort RS2000 weighs around 925kg (2039lb). This car may weigh slightly more with the extra doors and new engine and gearbox etc. but still a healthy 200ish bhp/tonne. These guys have North Eastern accents which even people from Southern England can struggle to understand so you’re not alone. Good guys and a lovely car though.

Borderline perfection, I should Zetec my Capri but the 1.6 pinto is absolutely singing with the hot cam and Weber at the moment, unbelievably around 90 bhp feels really nice, not super fast obviously but even after driving my other daft 300 bhp car the Capri still feels great
