Chris C Actually a lot of autistic people do that with necklaces or whatever. Autism greatly affects your tactile sense of touch (or something) and things chafing like that seriously freaks them out. It is also why some autists are infamous for their poor hygiene due to not showering; the sensations caused by the jets of water etc is extremely discomforting to them.

@@Ett.Gammalt.Bergtroll His sonichu medallion is very light but that could be the case. More likely it is a rash from not bathing or bathing in a shower filled with black mold. Maybe the metal connection was cheap and made his skin turn green but rather than replacing it he thought just put a toilet roll tube covering the metal clasp problem solved lol. Chris is just lazy I am positive chris used to shit himself because he was to lazy to pause the game or whatever bs he was doing and go to the bathroom. You know how, in movies and other media, they have that one brief glimpse that humanizes the villain? That makes you feel deep sympathy and for a moment, become emotionally invested in their story? It always genuinely touches me to hear or read about Chris' reaction to the passing of Patti-Chan. A very touching little story, and the comic he makes for her is genuinely sweet. For someone who rarely knew how to take responsibility, love, or selflessness, Chris seemed to truly love Patti for no other reason than she was his pal. Patti never knew about the online antics, the trolling, the rage, the weirdness. Patti just knew those "bally-scratches," the treats, the walks through the yard, and the smiles. We could all be so lucky to have "one lucky pup" like Pattie.

@UnluckyOctopus3 жыл бұрын
@@blankmystique None of either of their other other children have any contact with them. They clearly also had a hoarding disorder. My guess is the parents had their own mental demons. Maybe they believed Chris was “High Functioning”. Maybe they were just too old to want to keep up with managing their “adult” sons appointments and life. Maybe the Mother liked having a child that wouldn’t run from her and would always need her. Honesty the last theory is my best guess. If Chris had gained independence she would have ended up completely alone. They were codependent on each other and I think the Mother wanted it that way for what ever mental reason.
@zombiebunny173 жыл бұрын
@JoeTheMysterious Pride is the reason. If they admit he needs therapy, they have to admit something is wrong with THEIR son. They're from the older generation where therapy was shameful. Being not normal in anyway was shameful. So instead of acknowledging it, they went the opposite direction and ignored the problem and pushed the idea he is just as capable as everyone. The issue is autistic people have the potential to be just as capable with guidance and help.
@UnluckyOctopus3 жыл бұрын
@@zombiebunny17 I agree pride is part of the problem. Where the theory falls apart is a big part of the “older generation” was independence pulling one up by the boot straps. They would have have been deeply ashamed their adult son was unemployed, unmarried and living at home playing with toys. The Mother simply did not want him independent she wanted to be able to control him and have a care taker/company in her old age. Watch any episode of hoarders and they are all the same. Someone has mental trauma from childhood and they themselves need therapy it’s revealed the condemned house is the least of the persons problems. Who knows what psychosis Barb had but she enjoyed her son being trapped with her.

Sure, I get the appeal to a certain level and all, but I also think that his 15 minutes of (bizarre) fame should have passed years ago. So i'm of two minds about it. He's both a unique character study, but it's also like watching the antics of the most detestable, unlikable sack of shit that has ever existed. That having been said, these are great videos that explain and delve into the mind of a horrible human being, and that's why i'm here.

Cole's words are raw and unsettling, but as a victim of abuse and neglect, it's completely understandable why he felt or still feels that way. He's taken as selfish, but imo he's right about distancing himself from his abusers and also controling mentions about Chris or his family on social media. Being a part of Chris' life is like quicksand, a thing you fall into and can end up drowning and suffocating your own life. Yet, his interpretation is twisted at one point: when he says Barb only loved Chris. Chris was probably sheltered and enabled by Barb and Bob because of his autism and Cole saw it as love, but Chris was also neglected and abused by his parents. Bob had good intentions (like building the studio), but sometimes crossed lines and did more harm than good (like paying girls to pretend to like his son). We really have no heroes in this story.

It's hard to view Chris Chan as a human because he's so absorbed in his own world. The only way we know how to interact with him is on the basis that he's some sort of abstraction, like an equation where if you input a certain amount of trolling, you'll get an output in the form of a funny video/comic or delusional rant. He's too otherworldly to associate ourselves with him (yet we still hold him to our standards). Online and societal insensitivity toward autism has always been around, so it's not exclusive to him, but underneath that, his warped self-image, creepy habits, embarrassing presentation, and unspeakable actions, is a human, no matter how many memes we make to conceptualize or dismiss him. Remember, he wrote that eulogy when he was 24. Almost nothing we know him for today had happened yet. His worst sin at that time was making unwanted advances with women (which is a given for someone with autism-- not to downplay it, but to contextualize it). Also keep in mind that most of his videos and rants at this time are just desperate attempts to relate his world to ours. Anyone who's been friends with, knows family members who've had, or has autism or Asperger's themselves understands how tragic and embarrassing it can be. Again, I'm not using his autism as a get-out-of-jail-free card for all the horrible things he's done, it's so we understand him. I think the sincerity of the eulogy speaks to two incredibly sad realities of Chris Chan: the first being that he is more like us than we'd like to admit, and the second being that he could have turned out differently; better. Patti allowed us to feel as Chris Chan does; to relate to him, and once that bridge disappeared, it was all downhill from there, and we'd no longer (be able to) feel empathy for him. It's almost fateful watching Vivian Gee's logs with him from around the same time, like she knows total calamity lies ahead and no one else, not even Chris Chan himself, can foresee it. Patti's death (symbolizing the death of the last living piece of his childhood, ironically, as his whole life has been marred by dragging aspects of his childhood into the present and ruining them, with Patti being the only thing he couldn't) marked the last time anyone wanted to or could have stopped his mental free-fall.

They abandoned their previous families, married way too quickly when they met, started drifting apart fast, had another child way too late into their lives, didn't even bother to raise said child properly, didn't seek help because they knew they'd get in trouble if people found out about their neglect, and now the whole internet knows who they really are. Their treatment of others, and their entitled son, is their legacy.

Dad constantly tried to make him grow, mom constantly coddled him. Dad, being elderly, gave up and relented to what mom wanted to do with Chris. So he learned to turn to women for care and emotional support. The school, trying to keep him under control, played into his delusions by giving him "gal-pals" who were paid to pretend to be his friends. Then at the end of high school he lost every single one of them, and every bit of support he had. He naturally desired to get that back, leading him to his intense focus on trying to find a girl in public and to Megan. She reacts to him how every one of his "gal-pals" would have honestly reacted to him if they had not been paid. He was left with no idea how to deal with any of this. Instead of sitting Chris down and making it crystal clear that women were not a support mechanism, he literally had the idea that they were underlined for him by every single person in his life growing up. It is absolutely no wonder he turned out this way, and it is absolutely no wonder that the story has taken the dark turn it has. They failed him.

@The Duke Of Flem IDK much about him, but from his letters I don't get ego so much as latent rage. The fact that Chris and Barb repeatedly verbally abuse and disparage him only to turn around and try to guilt trip him into giving them money really shows exactly what kind of dynamic he and Barb had. I really feel for the guy and honestly, it was nice of him to try and get Chris to see the truth. Read what Chris wrote to Cole what Barbara said "I don't regret giving birth to Cole" - which is nearly an insult as faint as praise that is "A few good years before the madness began" - doesn't admit she was abusive or anything and tries to paint it as some neutral thing or worse, something Cole also was responsible for. Typical gaslighting and completely normal for Barbara. "All things considered, I still love him very much" - again, textbook abusive gaslighting language by acting like they're a good person for still loving the other person despite "what they did" even though what they did was cut themselves off from a toxic piece of shit. "Like any mother would for her son" - insinuating it's just the bare minimum, she couldn't even bring herself to just say that she loves her son genuinely. Like, Bob wasn't pleasant and Chris is insane, but Barb is just a piece of shit.

Your dedication to pronouncing all the typos as they're written is tremendous.

Plus Geno yelling everything Chris has typed in caps and then returning to his calm voice is amazing. And it's hilarious hearing someone yell Chris's word soup, I always double take and am like "wow did they really say that"

Can we pause to talk about Cole for a second? He’s very blunt but the fact he poured his heart out no matter how cold he was, he still did. I can appreciate him doing that unlike Chris is unable to. My heart goes out to him and I wish him well if he’s still around today. That poor bastard, he’s no different to a good friend of mine when it comes to his attitude due to how he was raised. I’m just glad from what we’ve seen he learned from the trauma rather than replicating it.. On a brighter note, the long sooooooooo then fucking corrupt was amusing. It makes me smile. 33:13 is also funny, nice job artist. I still feel sorry for Cole and Megan for the record...

JaggedBird He was well over forty when he wrote those emails to Chris. Hopefully he was well past the trauma in his early life and had made a good life for himself.

Ett Gammalt Bergtroll agreed. I get a cynical Doug Walker vibe off him

Lol he's 55 and has a Patreon (makes 83$ a month) and a Twitter with 2,000 followers. He's definitely not at his peak but he seems to be doing OK for someone nearing retirement.

If you've ever looked into Cole, he's a massively unpleasant person. He's not very smart, but arrogant as fuck.

@@Abysia it's all so tragic. I wonder if he would have been a better person if he wasn't abused as a child.

The PaRappa the Rapper video also foreshadowed the fire at the Chandler's house.
