Chris Cornell interview, Part 1

Cornell didn't like looking at interviewers. At least during this period. I always took that because he was a real person. Rock god or not.

In various interviews of Chris Cornell taped over the course of his career, he has shown a marked tendency to avoid eye contact with the interviewer; this is consistent with his known introversion when offstage, and also suggests that Cornell might have been on the autism spectrum (say, Asperger's syndrome), likely undiagnosed. (I speak here as a long-time fan who is myself on the spectrum, as well as sharing Cornell's known introversion and chronic depression; perhaps this is why his artistry always hit me where I live.). That said, he always came across to me also as very genuine, both knowing his worth and taking himself lightly; he is profoundly missed.
