You mention Chris Cornell and mostly all you hear is What a beast of a singer. But man he was a lyrical genius. His words were pretty poignant and mysterious just like the man himself. Miss him everyday.

Rishabh Bose, that's true! His lyrics, singing, and writing were all awesome. He was such an independent musician, too, he could've done so much just on his own. I'm not saying that's "wasted potential" because he was with other bands for so long. In fact, I'd say it's the _opposite!_ He was incredible, inspirational, and will certainly be missed, not only for his influence on others, but for the wonderful masterpieces he created in his time. The fact that he could do so much in such little time, however, is just a true show of how skilled and amazing he was at what he did. He found what he loved, and, even if it didn't end well... I admire the beauty and the wonders Chris has contributed to and made. What a skilled, beautiful, and certainly _remarkable_ man.

This was pulled down several years ago when he died. Randomly "Chris Cornell" pops into my head, I"m like Maaan, Alllright brain (I woke up to the song, Show me how to live, in my head.) and then I saw this song, which I totally thought they still kept offline (never once did it show up on recommended). Just wanted you to know, this song was an 'issue' for yoututbe after he (Cornell) died.

I saw Chris live on his last birthday (July 20th 2016) at the Fox Theater in Spokane WA. I remember the day he passed away. I received the news myself during my lunch period in freshman year of high school. I couldn’t finish that school day. He was by far my favorite musician and my inspiration for taking up the guitar. It was actually the song Rusty Cage featured in GTA San Andreas that introduced me to the world of music. He was too young to die man…
@Brent-y1x
@Brent-y1x 7 күн бұрын
I found Rusty Cage through Johnny Cash which eventually led me to exploring the source which was Bad Motofinger. It was one of the most intense albums I'd ever heard; almost a super heavy Blues Album. Nobody believes me but if feels like the deepest darkest blues album I've ever heard. I couldn't believe how Johnny Cash and Tom Petty (I believe) distilled the speed and heaviness of Rusty Cage down to where we could appreciate Cornell's powerful lyrics. To me, it's even more meaningful than the original version with that incredible magical Cash-like spin on it...like wisdom from an old man whose still got that spark left in him.

I truly believe that Chris Cornell discovered the "Forbidden knowledge" of the Universe that unlocked the portals between all present, past and future existences. And was able to move unfettered between them. And if you really contemplate his lyrics you will more fully understand what it is he was trying to tell us... And I mean think about what it is he is saying... Really think about it on the deepest level...

This man was one of the last most talented musicians to walk this earth, Cornell was skilled in his compositions, an extreme facility to expose his vulnerability and make one reflect, a true poet. He was an excellent musician, he played drums, bass and guitar well, and before he was a singer he also composed songs thinking about the voice-drums timing for the best fit. And the vocal talent, able to reach beyond octaves, raise the tones and have a very powerful voice timbre for a man. This man, for those who appreciate good music, organic music, he was a possessor of ability, competence and mastery. No one sings like you anymore, GOD of rock music.

I am completely embarrassed to say that I didn't know this artist until the news broke worldwide recently (don't flame me). Incredible. This song and video is pure class. I love the alternative video to the song that was shown on a recent TV special along with other performances. I feel cheated I'll never see him live. But at least I have this. Thanks Chris RIP.

The great thing about discovering a musician late in their career is the treasure trove you have to explore -- Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, solo albums, many collaborations, covers... enjoy.

I don't if I have just been ignoring or bottling up my emotion this whole time, but I have never allowed myself to believe that Cornell is gone. Just now, half a bottle of Scotch deep, I just started weeping to this song. There is no one like him. His voice is perfect. His lyrics are complex and deep. He is unparalleled in talent. And he is gone. Goddammit.

Whether as a solo act or singer of Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, Chris Cornell has been behind some of the biggest and best songs in Rock!! When asked what inspired him to write this song he talked about what happens when someone suddenly realises they are moving on with their lives after a bad experience and feeling like life is going to be black forever - a very reflective song about simply not wanting to and not having to be in that miserable place any more.......

I think Higher Truth was Chris's best work. All his talents as a singer-songwriter are on display on this album. I would have expected to prefer his hard rock stuff, but he really nailed this album like nothing else. And the people backing him up are superb.

Chris was awsome in all those bands and in solo. Both bands were 2 of my favourites bands of alltime. They had great names (and it's rare) with significant and simple meaning (thanks to Chris) and amazing songs that sounded like no one else. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vUnqaOmZ2EfpY&t

What stuns me is everyone's focused on his voice, or what he did to them with his 'leaving' but they're not seeing a man tell you why he did what he did. From 'The day I tried to live' to this Chris told you exactly how he felt. The ending was not the surprise for anyone who was a fan and listened to his lyrics.

Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart Chris Cornell Every time I stare into the sun Trying to find a reason to go on All I ever get is burned and blind Until the sky bleeds the pouring rain When you came along the time was right Pulled me like an apple red and ripe Wasn't very long you took a bite And did me wrong, and it serves me right And I nearly forgot my broken heart It's taking me miles away, From the memory of how we broke apart Here we go round again, again Every little key unlocks the door Every little secret has a lie Tryna take a picture of the sun And it won't help you to see the light Every little word upon your lips Makes a little cut where blood pours out Every little drop of blood a kiss that I won't miss Not for anything And I nearly forgot my broken heart It's taking me miles away, From the memory of how we broke apart Here we go round again Every single feeling tells me this is leading to a heart In broken little pieces and you know I need this Like a hole in the head Every single feeling tells me this is leading to a heart In broken little pieces and you know I need this Like a hole in the head And I nearly forgot my broken heart It's taking me miles away, From the memory of how we broke apart Here we go round again And I nearly forgot my broken heart It's taking me miles away, From the memory of how we broke apart Here we go round again Here we go round again Here we go round again Here we go round again Written by Chris Cornell • Copyright © Universal Music Publishing Group
