Chris thinks about how when you reflect on memories, a lot of times you look at them in a positive light even though at the time you may have not been happy. So basically, now is the worst time.

Daniel Z let me try to help. A thing that exists is better than a thing that is only a concept. The “now” that you are living in exists, while the past has ceased to exist and the future has yet to exist. Therefore now is better than the past and future, which are only concepts. So we are always living in the best time

It’s phenomenon. You will always remember your memories happier than when you experienced them. It’s bc while you are jn the moment there’s a variety of small struggles that we tend forget about as time passes. Like for example, being tired, sore, sick, stressed about a test, etc.
@dvrds
@dvrds 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, the tougher the experiences, the funnier or fonder you will feel about them, obvs not talking about someones death or a excruciating tragedy, but for the most part your mind calculates the growth you made as a person and tells you that was good for you, it shows you you can survive toughness, and how incredibly difficult life can be and still everything passes and you can make it.

What Chris is saying here about "now" being all we have is right in line with what presence is all about. When a person learns to be present in the now and content with the present moment, then everything else becomes secondary. Quiet the mind and the world around you will change. Much love to Chris and all the fellow babies. #NoDents

i was literally thinking about this like two days ago. i was thinking that even though things sucked while you were there, when you look back it’s with fondness, and every time you look back it’s with fondness. we complain about the present and worry about the future but when we look back we loved it all. my reasoning was the opposite of chris’ it’s that you should just enjoy the present while it’s here because whether or not you’re going to anyways.

I had a crazy realization after I heard this. Basically this is exactly what meditation tries to help. Meditation is about controlling your thoughts and thinking less about the future and the past. So the present is all you have and you have nothing to compare it to so by contrast it becomes much more enjoyable. Thanks for the epiphany Chris.

Resonates true but very under analyzed. He's describing people that live for the expectations or reminisce over the past, because they never live for the actual moment. But if you realize that the present moment is the only thing to live for, you stop reminiscing so much over things that are gone or being so excited for what's not yet here and may not ever be. But nonetheless... made me laugh hard as always. Love ya Chris
@radreviewz9482
@radreviewz9482 4 жыл бұрын
This is correct. The biggest truth is that all we have is NOW and under that is if you're negative, your now will suck. So you learn to stop thinking so much. Being more positive and thinking more positive aren't the same thing. Let that sink in and you'll be in a better place soon. And you'll just be there. You won't think it to death because so much thought is pointless and we can just disregard most of it. Honestly. That's exactly what the practice of meditation is.
