In my opinion Caroline Aherne was one of the best, yet underrated comedians. Before fame with classics such as Sister Mary, Mrs Merton and The Fast Show she was Eamonn Holmes' secretary at the BBC. She had a rare type of eye cancer as child, then as an adult developed both bladder and lung cancer- the surgery left her unable to speak. May she rest in peace.

As much as I adored Caroline Aherne/ Mrs Merton, I felt bad for Chris Eubank here. I don't think he realised this was a comedy chat show when he was booked, and the penny dropped and he felt humiliated. He looked so crestfallen! Some people don't appreciate this kind of humour and that's OK. Everyone is different.

Chris didn’t like like that lack of control but insisted to these chat shows were he would get completely opened up (around about that time) ! Not sure why the hosts did it as I admired Chris and his kookyness in those days. He seems a lot more assertive these days and still has so much to offer.
