@@renhoek3851 It's a weird one. I don't know, but I assume pieces like this are largely scripted and rehearsed, with some allowances made for ad-libs and improvisations that might occur on the spot. It's not a Newsnight interview with a politician - it's designed as a piece of entertainment. So I assume it's in everyone's best interests to have some kind of run-through to check that everyone's going to give the right lead-in lines for the punchlines, and that we're going to get the maximum laughs? It's a sketch, basically, isn't it? So surely you'd have a rehearsal?

@@pseudonayme7717 The Dangerous Brothers was pretty dire. Fit for student audiences in the Union but not anything else. And while TYO had some quality bits there was a load of bogey standard filler gags with mostly Rik taking the punchlines. FRaC was the progenitor of Bottom it had elements within episodes which were comedy gold, but still some arse standard overegging the omelette and Ade may as well not have been there, a sidekick rather than a comedy duo. Bad News didn't skip a beat because it was never strung out into a series. It was 30 mins of gags that took 30 mins of film. Bottom is the only thing to that point where each episode was well made and gag laden. Great blend of anarchy, slapstick and repulsiveness. In the Guest House Paradiso extras one of them talked about their characters working best in their own little world. They were "Uber Real" which in FRaC and TYO Their own little world was a bit too extended in Bottom it was pretty tight. OOOerrr!!!

Fascinating clip. Why does she try to embarrass/ humiliate them? professional jealousy? It's not gentle teasing, but nasty. They'd spent far more time in front of live audiences than her and it backfires...I wonder if she wrote the insulting questions that Roy asks them? Roy definitely didn't! Yet they remain studiously polite to her, and get bigger laughs, what gents.
@mmacintosh1105 Жыл бұрын
She is playing a character here. The whole premise of the show was that the Mrs Merton character would ask these kind of questions in a seemingly innocent way. The classic was asking Debbie Magee "what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?". Vic and Bob would know Caroline from the comedy circuit and know exactly what the score was. The episode with Bernard Manning was interesting!
@intelligencelimited2708 Жыл бұрын
@@mmacintosh1105 You can see when Roy asks his questions, they're not enjoying it, and are slightly stung. It's uncomfortable. I realise she's playing a character, but these questions seem particularly barbed, a set-up, with even a stooge in the audience to try and rile them-Roy very rarely took a pop at who was being interviewed, his questions were either silly or a bit salacious. And 'Do a little funny sketch for us' is purely designed to make them crash and burn. I wonder if it was all that negative energy that saw her off.
