This is the first time I have followed the Giro on TV , and I can safely predict the Tour de France this year will not be nearly as exciting. Well done Chris! P. S. As a competitive cyclist and asthmatic myself , I always load up with salbutamol inhalations before starting, to keep my bronchial tubes open until my heart/lungs have warmed up.

Always about doping guys,... try to analyse (for those who are riding, for the others it will be difficult),... usually 90% of the race Froome (like the others) is behind team mates,... and the race is played during the last hill (2 / 3 km from the finish line) and there are TT,... all the rest Froome is doing the “minimum”,... so how many kilometers are at 100% guys ?

The thing with doping is same of taxing. They let some small fishes alone, decide to destroy average ones, and catch the big ones whenever they want. I would not be surprised if they caught Froome After he retires. A weak team? every team only has limited resources after 18 days of racing. Chris froome and Dave brailford are using the system to cheat. Dave brailford has said openly in interview that there is alot of grey area of what isn't technically doping which is being exploited by every team willing.

It's not proven he intentional overdosed salbutamol. Also considering that there is very little evidence that salbutamol is an effective performance enhancer there is no reason to penalise... Unless you think not dying from asthma is unfair...

He took almost a minute out of Dumoulin on the descent alone, and salbutamol doesn't take 39 minutes out of Yates

@Chris Jackson Salbutamol's effectiveness is beyond doubt. It's effectiveness when inhaled is questioned. Also beyond doubt is the fact that 2x the specified amount doesn't make it into your urine from even double dosing on your inhaler. Intention doesn't matter, 'non-intentional' Yates got himself suspended a couple of years ago. There's a 100% chance that the rules were broken by Chris Froome relating to specified/banned performance enhancing substances/methods. If you're not playing by the rules and if the rules aren't being applied consistently, then there is Zero integrity in the competition. The only thing saving him at the moment is the fumbling of the eternally incompetent/corrupt (apply at your leisure) UCI which is as complicit as its athletes due to its ridiculous stance on in-competition TUEs. If you're so ill that you need drugs of such potency, then you should be at home recovering, not putting in the effort of a lifetime against the top 1% of the top 1% in one of the most physically demanding sports you can find. The athlete's welfare, the integrity of the sport and the public perception demand it. Before anyone accuses me of being a Sky/Froome hater, I'm not. Froome's performance today was an astonishing feat from someone who _should_ go down in history next to Eddie, Hinault, Indurain and Lance (doping or not, Lance was still an incredible athlete), but this episode brings the integrity of his performances into question, as it should do if the sport is serious about being clean and being seen to be clean.
