Chris Jericho (@ChrisJerichoFozzy) is a professional wrestler with AEW and was previously in WWE. He is also a bestselling author, actor, podcaster and the frontman of the rock band Fozzy. He sits down with Chris Van Vliet in Hollywood, CA to talk about his legendary pro wrestling career that has spanned 34 years, his decision to sign with AEW in 2019, how much AEW has accomplished in its first 5 years, the differences and similarities of working with Tony Khan and Vince McMahon, his ability to reinvent himself, the popularity of his entrance theme "Judas", being the main event of WrestleMania 18 instead of The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan, being in the ring when Triple H tore his quad, standing up to Brock Lesnar, whether he still thinks he will be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame, how much longer he wants to wrestle and much more!

Flair I'm gonna woo for 30 years. Austin I'm gonna crack the glass for 30 years. Jericho I'm gonna make you remember something new every few years. If he ever retired the lad has a catalogue of greatest hits. I never even watched WCW but played the 64 games and this dude was an instant legend to me and my buddies on his debut. People bring up the rock killing it nowadays but literally none of us thought that watching it at the time.

Jericho's heel run in 2008-2010 was easily the best version of Jericho we've ever had. As a kid during that time period, I hated him lol but that's what made him a powerhouse heel. He was definitely the best in the world at that time not just on the mic but in the ring. By far the best heel during that time. Dude put on 5 star matches with HBK, Cena and anyone he would get in the ring with. He even had a stellar match with Santino during that time. His ability to always evolve his gimmick and stay relevant is what makes Jericho one of the all time greats.

Jericho is ABSOLUTELY a living legend in the business. And of of the true GOATs. When it comes to the TOTAL PACKAGE of these attributes at an elite level, he's EASILY among the top 5-6 of all time: Mic Skills Main event IT factor/charisma Babyface Heel Technical Skills Aerial ability I gotta give Macho Man MAJOR CRED for putting this package on the map in the WWF back in the day. HBK, Jericho, Eddie, Angle, Edge, Punk, Danielson, Rollins, etc. came down the pike and were TOTAL PACKAGES of this blueprint as well. They put their own stamp on it. When you think about it, NOT MANY GUYS had this type of blend at an elite level. And NOBODY can f*** with Jericho when it comes to reinventing his persona. And Jericho had the GOAT NIGHT in pro wrestling history in my opinion in terms of actual achievement! Beat Rock and Austin in the same night. Won the WWF and World (WCW) titles in the same night. We never thought we would see somebody holding those two titles at the same time. And Jericho was the first to do it. Around this time, WWE accumulated the greatest roster of all time! So NO WAY Vince puts Jericho in that position IF he wasn't one of the best. Guys who have the attributes I laid out earlier IN SPADES get to the world titles and main events in WWE! Perfect complement to the main event box office brawler legends like Hogan, Austin, Rock, Taker, Cena, Brock, etc. Brawling was those guys bread and butter while on top. The guys like Jericho gave you the VERSATILITY you need in the main event scene of a worldwide wrestling company.

I'm a life long fan of Jericho. He definitely helped AEW get off of the ground. IMO there were a lot of people who were looking for an alternative to Vince McMahon. AEW was that alternative. Unfortunately AEW has run into a problem. Vince is no longer part of the WWE. Now that Vince is gone the landscape has changed. Also, the situation with Punk split the fan base. I really hope that AEW can get back on track. The WWE is better with competition.

The best thing about Jericho, even when he was a mid card guy, he never felt like a mid card guy. Take it back to the year 2000 with the rivalries with the likes of Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. Jericho being the talker and Benoit and Angle without a doubt the best wrestlers in the company balanced things out. 2003-2005. With Triple H on the top of Raw, Jericho was the heater heel for guys like RVD, Booker T, Kane, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, but his feuds still felt important and one notch away from taking Triple H's spot. Even his rivalry with Christian, a true undercard but also underappreciated talent, his WrestleMania XX match definitely wasn't what he deserved, but you knew he'd be World Champion in the future.

CVV is the wrestling fan in all of us. So awesome to watch your interviews. And this is the best Jericho interview of them all. I really love to see CVV interviewing my all time fav Shawn Michaels.

Jericho is actually one of the legit badasses I've heard many of the other guys that he actually is a badass can fight for real so ya he's being a cool dude and modest

I remember seeing jerichos face on the cruise and you knew he had a moment of realization of, just being proud 👏🏼 and felt the crowd sing. You could see it on his face.

I liked him in the cruiser weight division in WCW. Made the mid card levels relevant. His evolution from then to now is astonishing. 🤘🏻
