Saw Chris perform at the WV State Fair last night and as always, he executed his usual stellar, intense performance. No frills...….just songs from the heart. Great musicians and acoustics for the whole show, playing nearly two hours non-stop to a welcoming yet sparse crowd. Framed and Cry Lonely are two of his greatest songs.....a little more upbeat but, actually, everything he has written and sings tells a story, typically based on true life experiences by either himself or others he would know. Chris is an artist who performs more for the fan interaction, rather than the $'s.

I’ve loved Chris Knight ever since my uncle introduced me to his music while I was 16 working at his collegiate sports store in Atlanta. At the time I didn’t care for much country besides Cash and a few others. I loved Chris’ music from the beginning and is one of the reasons I make country music today. My favs are Enough Rope and Blame Me.

He’s got one of the largest underground country music followings of anyone. He also wrote songs for much more famous yet less talented musicians. I’m sure he’s super proud of what he’s accomplished considering he didn’t even start writing songs until he was mid-30s. I’m sure he’s comfortable sitting on 1/2 mil.

CK is not underrated. He is under-known. Anyone familiar with Chris hears the genius. He sings 4 minute short stories and novellas. He is the doing ok right now, and in time we may see a Lucinda Williams type breakthrough. How many years did we talk about Lucinda before everyone claimed they had always been fans?
