Man I love my 814ce. Upgraded to the gotoh tuners etc. Love the rosewood pick guard on it as well... having said that I'm a bit jealous you ended up with one of these my friend. Is there a noticeable difference enough between the 814ce and 914ce or k14 for me to justify one of them? Was going to buy a martin d41/42 or a furch red series etc next but I am fascinated with taylor as most of my acoustic guitars are taylor. Also what I reach for 90% when I play acoustic...
@94dodgedude3 жыл бұрын
@@Emily-kn7iw I also was looking at the Furch red series but I didn't really like the rosette and i couldn't get over the roman numeral inlays. I really think the englemann spruce top puts the 914ce ltd over the top. I'm more of a fingerstyle light picking hand player so not having to put as much power into the strings to get a beautiful response is amazing. I tried a k14 builders edition but it didn't have the overtones of rosewood I wanted and i tried 814ce's but none sounded and played as good as this 914ce ltd. I called Alamo music and dealt with Nick Pfeiler and he was great and gave me a really good price. Highly recommend calling instead of buying it online. They'll send you pictures of the examples they have to choose from. I'd totally recommend it as a do it all forever acoustic.

What a fantastic instrument! Engelmann spruce is the most harmonically rich top. I've owned a Lakewood D32 cutaway, since April 2007, actually, a Musikmesse 2006 item, with a AAAAA Engelmann spruce top, and premium East Indian Rosewood; an era when Lakewood used to offer such a huge quality.

Just out of high school, I talked my Dad into co-signing for me so I could finance my first high-end acoustic guitar. It was a 510ce L9.. a limited addition short scale with an Englemen Spruce top and Tropical Mahogany back/sides. I can't remember the exact year, somewhere between '02-'04. It was unfortunately stolen in 2017. It was special.. I imagine that new 900 will age spectacularly. There will be 10 very lucky guitar owners out there. I wish I could afford to purchase one!

Beautiful and terrific sound! In 2012 I went into my local music shop to buy a Martin. I left with a sunburst 714ce. I couldn't get past the look and sound.. i was told that it has an Engelmann spruce, not sure if that's accurate though. Thanks for all your great videos!

Beautiful guitar in every way! Very sweet top end. I must say I am surprised that it has the depth and fullness of tone considering that it has the V-class bracing which seems to take away the bottom end. I wonder if this has to do with the Englemann spruce top?? Its timbre is very even across all strings and has just the right amount of depth. Love it! It would be interesting to hear it played side-by-side with your oldie!

Congrats on your custom model. After playing a number of 800 series, and a few 900 series, I purchased a 912ce. I found the 900's to be noticeably nicer overall, and worth the step up in price. I believe the tonewoods are a grade higher than the 400/700/800 series spruce/rosewood models... it's not just a fancy inlay, though the inlays are nice.

I really like this Taylor 914ce. It has enough bottom for a rich full sound, the top is present but doesn't dominate (blues(wo)man here) lovely mids, and it has a delightful chimey overall sound; very melodic (which is something I like and value.) I have a Taylor Grand Concert acoustic. I love it. It never falls out of tune, but it doesn't have the chimeyness this 914ce has. I'm sorry, but I've already sold off all of my family members (dogs and cat, too) to get the guitars I already own (a gorgeous Inverness green Gibby LP electric), otherwise, I'd be on your doorstep for one of these. Beautiful instrument with a gorgeous sound. If my luck changes, I'll be back! Thanks for showing this to us. :D

My 1986 412 appears to have Engelmann spruce! Similar honey hue as yours.. back in the 80’s the specs on a 400 series were closer to current 500 series. Mahogany back and sides and.. Cedar top? It is rare occurrence to recover something like a guitar but there are property crimes police officers who will investigate and sometimes find stolen goods. @@AlamoMusic Okay, I appreciate your pointing this out. I am very likely going to buy a 914 CE in the future and that is something to consider. The standard 914 CE guitars I have heard already have a "chime" sound and have damn near perfect pitch that rivals or even beats Martin's perfect pitch, which is legendary. So it was hard for me to believe that a different type of spruce top could make that much of a difference. Thanks for letting me know.
