Coming from a Geelong fan, Geelong were a bit too confident after the first quarter and Sydney were just a better team in general

Happy with this week's performance. Beaten by a better team who put us to the sword when they had the momentum. Our best 4 quarter effort for a while. Young mids, still developing and will be much better after the bye when we get Danger back in the team and have that big body and experience.

There was no 4 quarter effort from either side..geelongs 2nd quarter effort was non existing just like the past month..the only upside is the cats never lay down( and no we don't count that gold coast game) because that was just not the geelong cats pfttt gold coast are the biggest jokes I swear that was the most embarrassing game I've ever witnessed

@@ianscott424 Today's Swans team would beat the 05 team. Much slicker style today and laser like kicks to teammates. Yes the young guys are more experienced than in 2022, and Geelong has got older.

Dont know how Parff keeps his positivity & willingness to keep this treatment going. Its ok to blood young players but please, pick the appropriate game. Whatever happened to a bloke having to earn his spot? If Parff hasn't done this so many many times, l'm 🤦‍♂️confused as to what he has to do. If he chose to leave l' be happy for him, but so p...ed off at the selectors.

The Cats are still in a transition period, and the problem with the great start is that it changed external expectations. Going into this year you'd have said Geelong would lose to Adelaide & Brisbane away, and that Carlton would have their measure. That would bring them to 4-3, and then probably get to 6-7, which is probably where they should be at. At a 50/50 win loss, you are probably seeing Hardie & Mannagh play more games too. They need to play Neale, but while Hawkins is playing it means their best forward Cameron is out of position. The only way to get Cameron into his spot is to retire Hawkins, and that won't happen mid-season. They could play Conway and Stanley together if Hawkins is out of the side. Playing Conway alone will mean getting smashed against the likes of Grundy. You could role that dice if the midfield was stacked, but as pointed out, our midfield have all pretty much played under 100 games. Atkins has played more, but his breakout season in 2022 and earlier, he was fourth in line behind Selwood, Danger & Guthrie. The latter two are pretty much done. For Geelong to push the top teams in the next two years they need to pull off a trade for a Danger esq. prime midfield bull, and then get complimentary players. Luke Parker, despite his age, would provide a great 2yr boost for this Cats side, just as Isaac Smith did.

Grundy literally created Warner's first, Heeney's first and Gulden's goal directly with his ruckwork at stoppages. He also fed our midfield over and over at centre bounce and stoppage from the 2nd quarter onwards. To say that Grundy's performance didn't really have a bearing on the game is disingenuous from Chris or perhaps he just didn't realise at the time and on review he noticed.

I think Chris values his team a little higher than what they actually are. Also surprised he seemed to think Stanley wasn't beaten by Grundy. (edited this comment for those who seem to think I'm asking Chris to applaud the opposition, when all I believe he should do is be honest about his players)
@ianscott424
@ianscott424 2 ай бұрын
I think he sees the positives - always does even when we play like crap. Grundy was excellent but I think his comments regarding the ruck were two-fold. 1 - He doesn't want to smash Stanley because all of us Cat's supporters already do. 2 - We're not planning on ruck dominance, so his comments about the mids winning the ball at ground level and his comments about being off a bit with our structure show they were likely expecting Stanley to get towelled up and the things they had in place worked at times and fell apart at others. Grundy dominated Stanley, but from a Geelong perspective that's insignificant as he gets towelled up every week.
