Really I have a pet peeve with people either commenting “first” for some unknown reason or with people who appear desperate for likes when not liking their comment could be detrimental to the maker of the vid as in this case, basically guilt tripping people into giving likes.

Chris I hope you read this... The problem with that Ferrari is a fairly common one. I don't know why it's taking them so long to figure it out at the dealer. The alternator charge rate is intermittently compromised. Get a scan tool on the car and set up the live data feed. Monitor the battery voltage/alternator output during a test drive. You will see either one of following issues (or both) if i'm right. From time to time (especially at idle) the alternator charge voltage /battery voltage will drop to say about 12.9/12.8(ish) volts. Which is not always low enough for the CAN BUS to throw an alternator failure warning (which makes the problem difficult to diagnose). It's a weak alternator regulator causing the car to run ONLY under battery power while the car is at idle (or under load) and it's only when the car is being operated at above idle RPM with no load whatsoever (no lights no ac nothing) that the alternator will charge the battery. The other warning lights are just ghost warnings triggered by the low voltage causing CANBUS communication issues. The other issue would be the battery's ability to hold a charge may be compromised either from constantly operating at low voltage due to the charge issue or it may have been weak to begin with. To solve the issue Nico would need to have the alternator checked and most likely replaced and ABSOLUTELY he should replace the battery along with it. TRUST ME it's NOT worth risking it with a battery that has been deep discharged several times if you want to have a reliable car.

I visited Milan in my Porsche 911 Targa many years ago. Despite being parked outside a very prestigious hotel, my side window was smashed and the radio set was stolen! Of course nobody saw anything! Cold drive back to UK for sure!

Maybe it is worth pointing out the problem that comes with the Maserati Quattroporte:- if you do not drive it regularly (like EVERY day) the electronics simply run the battery down. No problem you might think, BUT when you take even today's most sophisticated batteries right down, they will NOT re-charge back to a level that will keep all the ECU's, air bag controllers, seatbelt pre-tensioners etc, etc in a working state. And yes, there is a good possibility that when all the other work was done on the car, a wire/connection or two was disturbed, even causing a constant drain on the battery. Modern ECU's etc are so "clever" they can sense these things. I'd bite the bullet and approach Ferrari and ask then to do as many checks as possible, for which you are prepared to pay for. You are already well out of pocket, but if Ferrari can come to a definitive diagnosis that's surely a good result. Best of luck....

This is not an exhaust problem. This is a battery/electrical problem or something melted. I knew it in the first video. I know from experiences with several late models. They do not like short drives and they don't like when the battery level drops below a certain point. The trickle charger is the most important part of Ferrari ownership. I'm curious to see what happens. Hope it all works out.

If you watched Nico's side of it, he did mention that prior to installing the exhaust, it happened once already but it went away so he did not think of it as a big deal but a mere glitch. Besides, the whole trip to Switzerland was ok and that's like... What? 2,000 over kilometer from Calais? That didn't break down either. It has to be the computer somehow failing thus shorting all the circuits and central controls for all the electronics.

I think it could be a problem due to the exhuast - if can mess up pressures and the engine and management computer can mess it up. To be honest Ferrari offering to reinstate the waranty if it's brought back to stock is really decent of them.

To void a warranty on a 3 month old half a million dollar car cause of an aftermarket exhaust is insane. Plenty of other options to look at from a brand that will support you.

That is not a simple normal exhaust job and you know it. It messes around with valve openings there is further tinkering than just cutting a pipe and replacing it. Not saying it was the cause of this particular problem of course but in terms of warranty i can understand why something like this would void it. Having said that many Ferrari Owners have had aftermarket exhaust and had no issues with dealers... so there is that I guess. On a final note, the cost of the car means absolutely nothing and is a moot point regarding warranties.

I've had a few Ferraris, including a few V12's. 812 was the one I used the least and sold the soonest. Easily the worst F car I've ever had.

I would start by looking at the anti theft installation. Next check the harness connector plugs to the engine computer. It seems like a bad ground or something not making good contact.

Thank you for the update! I agree with Nico....Ferrari IS class. I've been lucky enough to be able to check off one of my bucket list dreams and drove a Ferrari for a day. My husband loved driving HIS dream car of a Lamborghini Murcielago shortly after but looking at the two and experiencing both, my heart is with FERRARI, all day long. I like to think that one day, I'll be able to buy one when my children are grown. have no knowledge of Ferrari, but these symptoms in any other Car is BCM(Body control module) related, have had several Fords, Vw ect with almost identical fault, When BCM related you will get faults in all the systems connected to to BCM discoing up your dash, mostly because of either water ingress or short circuits inside the BCM

I bet the dongle that was plugged into the diagnostic port for the exhaust is the problem, the OBD II port is for diagnostics its not suppose to have something permanently plugged into it for prolonged periods.

I have a Maserati GTS when the car was around 3000km old it was doing the same thing I thought it was the battery , turns out it was both the battery AND the alternator which the dealer subsequently fixed for me. I am also a follower of Nico's watch channel and I gotta say Ferrari did themselves a favor by going above a beyond for Nico's case as a PR remedy would cost them a lot more than the offering to reinstate warranty with condition had the case gave them a bad image among Nico's watch fan base.

Naw Ferrari has a bad rep for shredding warranty even on the slightest whim. However, I do believe Nico's fame did help in them thinking about how "we fucked up". This all actually spiralled out of control with Deadmau5 and his 458 Spider and now I think Ferrari's threading on thin ice that if they pulled such a massive PR stunt like that again, their reputation would be fucked even worse.

I had a Porsche before and I waited for the warranty to lapse before I started tinkering with things in the car. True enough 5 months in ownership it developed a grinding noise. The dealership checked her and found a defective alternator bearing. They swapped it with a brand new alternator for free.

Can I just say re the alloys, before you mentioned (in a previous video) that the PS4S are £100 more for a set, however they have insanely good rim protection that will protect ur alloys far more than other brands and would of saved ur alloys here for sure. Also the ps4s are better no matter what the reviews say 🤣

If Nico's Ferrari's problems were not connected to his mods. Ferrari should honour his warranty. Its just a low ball excuse to get out of fixing his unreliable car.

You can sue ferrari. They cannot sell a car in the UK then abandoned the warranty just because of an exhaust. Don't work like that. Exhaust hasn't caused an electrical issue. Get them in county court.

Haha which university did you get your law degree from? I’m fairly certain Ferrari know exactly what they’re doing, there are term and conditions attached to the warranty, he chose to ignore them and this is the result. And it wasn’t ’just and exhaust’ there was a controller plugged into the OBD2 port as part of the exhaust upgrade, that’s what’s caused him the issues.
