24:00 2 hours ago, I was pondering if I should write songs again more seriously after my mom passed. I do it anyway, but gave up the more serious aspects of the pursuit a few years ago and have felt it's been a waste of time considering other things. I know my mom would want me to do it. This advice has me crying because it's just so true. & Matt also left me a note after my mom passed. I'preesh .....Edit: the John Lennon quotes, hahaaaaaduuuuuuuuuuude

50:20 I hate that I relate to this statement. He tried to plan ahead, and also noticed a stink in the family vehicle. Now she has messed up the planning ahead, and ALSO did not acknowledge the car food stink. And when you get blood red mad, everything stacks up. So not only did you ask me to be late when I planned ahead to avoid being late, but now I can also more heavily smell the car food stink, and I am blood red mad. But to Kristin/spouse, I am just exaggerating my frustration on topics that you don’t find to be that important because they don’t matter to you, which only escalates how blood red mad I get. Holy cow how do you keep a level head and keep on rippin life in these moments…!

Wow Matt, what you said about the brain transitioning to non existence gave me chills, its something fascinating. I think about it often and I believe this too. The mind comforts itself, people describe it as a calm feeling, or bliss. The amazing thing is, that feeling of bliss is always there, just isnt accessed all the time, the mind is so powerful, it literally is reality.

Chris, it is so glaringly obvious that she didn’t want to answer you because she didn’t want you to get mad. Probably especially because she was asking you to be late. And maybe she could tell you weren’t in the best mood already. Maybe the atmosphere was already slightly tense. And, probably earlier, either her or Cal was super hungry and she needed to grab something quickly. Clearly she knows that’s something you’d not be happy with. I see your POV- (pls don’t eat in the car)- and have also been in her position at times - (it’s just this once, it’s no big deal, what they don’t know won’t hurt them). And BOTH of you are right. So to avoid the subterfuge on both sides, you need to accept that sometimes rules will be broken and you will forgive that in other people and not get mad, because there are extenuating circumstances and she needs to be honest when that happens, explains why it did and apologise and also acknowledge that it’s really frustrating when someone asks a question and the other person doesn’t give a direct answer and not do that in future. She would be honest if you didn’t get mad and you wouldn’t get mad if she didn’t eat in the car. She shouldn’t eat in the car if you bought it and that’s your request, but you should accept sometimes rules will be broken and you forgive that, calmly re-establish the boundary of ‘pls don’t eat in the car honey, it’s just this thing I have, I accept this was a one off, but moving forward, I’d really like it if you respected that. I know you didn’t do it to purposefully upset me. Alls good.’ And you GENUINELY need to let it go. If it happens again, you calmly reestablish the boundary and let it go. The third time it happens, I’m sorry but then you have someone who is not respecting your boundaries and that’s not ok and a big issue. What are reasonable boundaries? That’s up to both of you to decide. I think if you work hard to buy things, it’s a fair boundary to ask your partner to respect and look after them and eating in the car can eventually get very messy. I think Kristen would agree with that. But again, sometimes on rare occasions we all need to make an exception. You are able to respond calmly when you know you have a process in place and forgiving things doesn’t mean the other person thinks that’s a green light to do as they please.
@SootSootSootSooty6 ай бұрын
Also Chris, the reason she wanted to not drive separately is because she wants to be WITH you. I doubt it cause you guys are so hard up she’s trying to be economical and save petrol. As a woman I understand this and have done it countless times. ‘Let’s go together’ - means, let’s be together. Because I LOVE YOU and I like spending time with you. So while it made you late, try to remember that the origin of it all was coming from the best place and that you have a wife who loves you and wants to be with you as much as possible. I don’t know Kristen personally, but from what I’ve seen of her, I’m 99% sure when it comes to you and the kids, the underlying motive of her behaviour is always love. Sometimes when we feel disrespected or whatever it’s hard to remember that.
@SootSootSootSooty6 ай бұрын
Also, another angle is maybe she thought you were hungry and that’s why you were asking about food. And how can she know if there’s food in the car when she’s doing something else like putting her makeup on.

36:27 What a great bit. I am an old fart, and recently a bus driver, already pulling out of the station, saw me coming and stopped. So I ran. And I don't run well. Even though it was nice of him to stop to let me on the bus, I saw his grin for making this old carcass try to run. I hated it, yet I thanked him. What an ass. Him. Or no: me. Neeh: him. No: me.

Chris’s awareness of how he could seem like an asshole to Kristin is such a blessing and a curse - it’s very telling that he’s grown a lot as a man ! But also Matt’s innocence of not realizing why that would make Chris seem like an asshole because it’s so obviously not him being an asshole also makes me feel bad for Chris because it’s like he’s so concerned every second about seeming this way or that way . Super stressful lol but I love the emotional intelligence .
@loyreyenas74786 ай бұрын
As "silly" as they are, they both exhibit super high levels of self awareness, it's because they know it could be commented on comedically I think but it doesn't matter. They're constantly assessing intentions of each word they say and how it could be interpreted it's incredible to watch.

40:55 the whistling is too much 😅 here is a solution by creating a problem: buy a loud ticking clock, and then bring it into work on your desk...say it's from your late great grandfather. Then, buy noise reducing ear plugs to help with the noise of both sources of noise. ***Or play white noise like ocean waves and say it reminds you of your family somehow. Just try to create more noise somehow.

@22:14 I know the feeling. I mean I don’t have kids or anything but, I have that same “why”. I should take my own advice on this. You are not wasting time and it matters because it’s something that you want to do. Like Matt said about artists, there are many successful artists that say they need to do even if they didn’t have all the success in their band or in rap. It’s all in the mind. No offense to gamers but making music is more productive than gaming. If you don’t use your creative outlet it’s going to negatively affect everything else because you need to have some way of expressing how you feel about things in your life. Above all things, have fun.

Getting a pension position at 22 is pretty remarkable. Don't take it for granted guy. Also EMT.. I have wanted to be an EMT at one point. When I was about your age. I ultimately decided not to. I'm 34 now and I'm glad I didn't. Every EMT or paramedic I've ever talk to and everything I've read about it it's just an underpaid position and the work is extremely difficult and stressful. There's a reason their average life span is low. Maybe cool to experience it for a bit while you're young but it's a tough tough career and it doesn't seem like everyone's got out for it. But if that's for you then do your thing but I would take the other position. Also there's always high demand for EMTs so you can just do it eventually if you want
