Thank you, I have to do the same with my C5, along with the shocks. You have shown me what I need and how I can do it!

I am buying a C-5 50th anniversary car tomorrow. Thanks so much for great video. As a detailer I want to polish all the aluminum parts. I needed to know how to take all of it apart so that I could do that.

Hello Chris, again a great video. On my C4 I replaced all bushings on the front and rear suspension. Removing the old bushings was relatively simple and I did not need a press. I did as follows: I put the control arm with the old rubber bushings into a vise and with a handsaw I simply cut away the part of the bushing that was sticking out of the control arm. Then I took a large screwdriver and a hammer and hammered the rest of the bushing out. Job done! The fun part was that I polished all the parts, so that they looked like they had been chromed! Part of the hobby (LOL)...

Looks like quite a job for me but I could do it for that kind of money. I hate seeing my Vette down for very long as winter will be here before I know it. Thanks for the tutoring.👍

One of the 4 bolts that hold the upper control arm to the frame has been seized sticking out from the frame. Obviously its important that all 4 are torqued down but I tried using my impact and breaker bars to remove it but she's solid. Guessing the previous owner cross threaded it. Hoping it's not a huge pain to remove and rethread that one hole

Chris: would replacing those parts (& possibly other rubber parts) stop the Chassis squeaks and noises that are common to older vehicles? Also thinking about the rubber window & door, trunk, hood, seals...

Yes

Great installation video. How many miles does your vette have and why did you decide to change them out? Do you feel a difference when driving with these new bushings?
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
120,000. Because they are 22 years old and have 120,000 miles. I haven’t driven the car yet.

Thanks for the video Chris, I have a question.... yesterday I went to get a safety\emissions test and my car failed saftey due to the upper control arms bushings, should i replace the entire control arm or just the bushings like you did here?
@mycorvettelife3 жыл бұрын
Up to you. You can buy a new control arm with the bushings already installed for $130 ea.
How much money do you save by doing the bushing change yourself.? 🤔
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
Probably $1000-1500 depending on the shop.

Do the C6 Z06 shocks provide the kind of ride quality you expect, Chris? I ask because I’m old and have a really bad back, so need a fairly cushy ride quality. No Z51 suspension for me! Just wondering what you’d do as far as shocks front & rear if you were me. If cost was no object...😎
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
Just my opinion, you won’t make a Corvette ride like an old Cadillac no matter what you do. It wasn’t designed for comfort in mind. The low profile tires contribute more to the ride quality than the shocks. The C6Z shocks are a good inexpensive upgrade from the stock C5 shocks. If cost was no object I’d get coil overs.

Great video Chris! I need my EVAP purge control solenoid switched out on my C5 (got the check engine light for it). Do you have a video for that or could you make one? Thanks!
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
No I don’t but it’s very easy. You just pull the hoses off and stick in the new one.
@Yokoshibadog15044 жыл бұрын
@@mycorvettelife Thanks! I took it to a Chevrolet dealer and they wanted to charge me $230 for labor to do it! I think I will just order the part and take it to someone else who can just switch it out for me without trying to rip me off!
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
You can do it yourself in about 30 seconds.
