I was a bit skeptical but people, for all the crap you have to trudge through on the internet and KZbin, THIS is where it pays off. Just like the man said, I had a very obvious black plug about 1/2" long in the end of the tube. I dipped it in a cup of water and worked around (wasn't about to suck it out), flinged it around, it came flying out, plugged it back up, now the soggy clothes are enjoying their beautiful spin cycle! Chris you saved me a lot of headache and probably some cash because I don't have the time to tear this thing apart. Thanks so much!!!!

Yep, you just saved my ass some $$$. I was about to call a repair guy but then I saw your video. I pulled the hose off and used my air compressor on the hose and I heard the vacuum switch "pop"...the same sound it makes when it has pumped enough water into the barrel. Works like a charm now. Thank you very much sir.

Thanks so much. Sunday night my daughter called from a thousand miles away with a terribly busy week coming up and a washer full of clothes that wouldn't go into spin. After talking a little I got on Google, found your KZbin video and emailed her the link. Within 10 minutes after she watched the video her washer was spinning. If you ever do it over, I might suggest that you spend a little more time on getting the front cover off, but thanks for what you've done.

Anyway, thank you again this video was SO HELPFUL thank you for posting. My husband is a firefighter and works 48 hour shifts, he JUST left this morning, I am leaving to go out of town myself for a week and was doing laundry when the washer decided to crap out. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I didn't know what to do, I called my dad; who's 63 and he said "Go to KZbin"! Chris, Thank you for your video. I tried your fix for my non-spinning Hotpoint and it worked! I have been searching for three days for a solution and am so glad I finally found your video. I did not see this solution anywhere else. I considered the motor (it's fine), the capacitor (don't have one), the water pump (it's working), lid switch (it tested OK). I had no clue what that tube was for and never suspected it could be the answer. My hats off to you!

Thank You Chris. After watching numerous videos from KZbin and parts distributor right to repair videos, I tried yours and yours only. This fixed my problem instantly. My tube was backed up with at least six inches of black gunk. I think it was from my fabric softener. Once I quit using softener, after twenty five years, my machine is cleaner . No repair man needed. Now since I've done this, I cleaned the washer and am now familiar with all the things that might go wrong. Thank you KZbin and Chris Edwards Restoration.

Had to leave a comment again... had to do this again on our washing machine after my wife said that it wasn't spinning... I think I have done this at least a few times over the years, so I knew what the fix was... what works good is a stiff wire, and one of those thin drinking bottles for cleaning the straws out... a long one is best, so you reach up and clean further up, like 12"... back in business... my wife was amazed ! Thanks again !

Thank you! This fixed my spin cycle AND timer stays on issues. My hose was clogged with 4 inches of black gunk. I used a coat hanger to scrape the inside walls of the hose, then squirted Mean Green degreaser into the hose, let it sit for 5 seconds, drained it into a bucket, then repeated the process until the gunk was gone. Then I used a shop vac to suck out the spray/gunk as a final step. Thank you!

Thanks for posting this because it made me go through a day of trouble shooting my washer for why it did not spin during the dry/spin cycle.. Either the hose can be clogged or the air dome (the plastic box) on the side of the plastic tub can be clogged. DON"T TRY TO REMOVE IT OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE TUB. If the air dome is dirty and water remains in it when the tub is empty, the air dome outlet at the bottom is clogged into the tub and must be cleared. If the air dome is dirty and not clear, clean out both the top and the bottom holes of the air dome. Any water should drain out into the tub when empty. Mine had accumulated water and would not drain. To unclog my air dome I first used an air compressor at about 40psi. I then used a syringe with vinegar and pumped about 7x 5ml through the air dome into the tube trying to clean it. I then ran the washer through a cycle with hot water trying to dilute the vinegar. Bleach could be used but it is more toxic. I ran it with bleach and hot water at its highest water level to clean out the air dome. It is not as clean as I want it because the plastic air dome still is not clear on the bottom. I think one of the dishwasher cleaning products, such as by Tide, might help clean out the air dome as well. In my experience, resetting the tub level selection switch by blowing into the end of the hose only worked for one wash cycle if you don't clean out the air dome. The automatic fill level still did not work properly on my Hydrowave GE washer until the air dome was unclogged. So, don't just look at the hose, check the air dome to be sure it is not clogged.

Great video! Thanks! One IMPORTANT NOTE.... DO NOT DO THIS when you have water in the tub. It will cause the vacuum actuator to take in water and the level sensor gets fubar'd. Then you end up flooding your apartment and the computer office beneath you. Ask me how I know. I'm all set now though. Just a few hours of shop vac'ing and cleaning up water. Back in laundrious action!

It was the issue, Had a slime in the tube. What I do not understand is you said to Blow in the tube and to me it seems it would blow up it would simply clog again. I used a fondue skewer to basically scrape it out. Thanks God it worked afterwards and now I can go sit down in my lazyboy. Thanks again, No telling how many washers are in the dump over a stupid clogged tube.

blow in the tube to make the pressure sensor click. you can clean it out. it comes from cheap detergent not breaking down and getting over run in to the pressure box, thus causing the pressure switch not to click.. Glad it worked.

Good info in the video. Thumbs up. It's really easy to remove the hose at the top too. In the back at the top there are four hex screws. Remove those and the control panel tips forward. You'll see the hose connected to the pressure switch on the left. Take it off and run a pipe cleaner through it so any crud comes out the bottom. Taa daa.

If this doesn’t work and the tube is clear but still not agitating. Try to reset the motor. My GE washer required me to unplug the washer for 1 minute, then plug it back in. Within 12 seconds, lift and close the lid engaging and disengaging the lid switch magnet 6 times. Then see if it will spin. This worked for me.
